Went to an inside spot I havent been to in a couple years, killing some time, from roughly 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Saturday afternoon. Water quality was clear as usual at this tide time. Lots of boat traffic but further out- is always fun to either see the boats overloaded with babes in bathing suits or watching small boats pass by getting tow roped by bigger ones or Sea Tow because their boat motor crapped out on them. LOL! The area usually has sandy bottom that goes out to grassy areas- kind of like a night & day thing. Not much had changed except alot of trash has been cleaned out of the bottom. Area seems to have some different stuff, depending on the year, time of day & tide. Lots of small lane snapper at times, sheephead, sand perch especially small ones, sometimes small runners show up, jacks come through in the late afternoon times, going into a frenzy on the seawall, tearing up the glass minnows or greenies (depends on time of year), barracuda claim their share of stuff caught be fishers here. In the fall finger mullet pass by this area & snook show up briefly- have even had some horse eye jack come through here at night time. Trying to see if a specific type of fish would be present- was throwing small jigs on the bottom- none this trip, but they are around. Had a couple arm length barracuda follow my jig on different times, but no cut offs (LOL!). Did catch a large stargazer on the second cast of the jig & got a picture of it before pitching it back over. Will be back again soon.
