sandbar shark

Post by Team Shark Fever »

Caught this sandbar shark fishing with the wife and kids last night.
Not the typical shark for August down here ,,she looked to
be pregnant and was plenty feisty.Would love to hook a big summer hammer like the 14 footer big John and Benny caught not to far from here 2 years ago on the Dania pier. After fighting the shark 4-1/2 hours on a 12/0 the old man came out on the t and made them cut the shark off.No shark fishing allowed he protested!!! I guess the local tourist dollar is more important then the rights of local land based fisherman.

pier hammer

Post by Team Shark Fever »

I was not there, the story was told to me by big Johnny,,,oh well.
I stand corrected.Huge hammer great to have a picture to go with the story.Maybe that hammer's grandma is still swimming in the area.

howdy.... we went out yesterday and got annihilated by bugs all day long and one nurse shark. later on in the evening we get a nice hit on the 9/0 and bring in this BT.
Image
we were all pretty much content with the BT and wanted to get the heck out of there because the bugs were literally eating us alive, so everyone left the beach except for my dad, as hardcore as he is. So i packed up all his gear and left him alone with just his rod and a chair and i went home to get some sleep. He said, "Ill call you if i get something i cant handle by myself so keep your phone by your ear."
so there i am, in a nice peaceful sleep, when my phone rings at like 1:30 in the morning. He's like," Ben, I got something big on the 14/0 and im definatelly gonna need your help." so i jumped in the jeep, grabbed my lucky hat, hit the gas and was there at light speed. By the time i fought my way through the bugs, he was still fighting the fattest tiger for its length that weve got so far. It was a nice fish. hooked in the left pectoral fin. i jumped in the picture because i had something i had to say to someone.... 8) i hope she gets the message.
