Serious foul weather gear

Post by mmcauliffe »

I would like to pick up some good foul weather gear, looking at the Grunden's but they offer several different varieties...any suggestions?

Want your rain gear light and breathable. It can get super hot in them if you buy the wrong one. Also, make sure it can be rolled up and put in a carrying bag. Last, you will wear the rain gear over your fishing clothes so make sure they fit over them.

We got the Grundens and we also have the Calcutta rain gear. Both are light weight and made very well. :toast:

I think a big question, is where do you intend on using them? As bolo said you will most likely want them light and breathable, Grundens are not that. I Commercially swordfished, so grundens were par for the course because they were so thick (aka giving me protection from the fish/guts/and the weather). For just plain and simple fishing, a sweater covered up by a rain slicker of any kind works. For landbased fishing, keep it simple.

Grundens have two versions. One is the heavy weight PVC and the other is light weight PVC. I have the light weight and yes on a summer day when the sun showers come thur they can be a little warm. I sell more Grundens for what is worth. :reeling:

Settled on Calcutta, jacket and bibs.

Lightweight, breathable and the quality looks very good.
