Jupiter Fl Wounded Heroes Fishing Event- Oct 12

Post by Ernie »

For those living near Jupiter FL, FishingCommunity.org will be holding a very cool fishing event for our Wounded Heroes and Veterans on Oct 12 at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. It's a shore fishing event and we are looking for participants and volunteers.

This event is intended to be a no-frills event for veterans and their families, as an integral part of the re-socialization/rehabilitation lifecycle.

Here are some of the details and the sign up sheet (also a place to donate $$ if you are so inclined).

Below is a link to the event we held in my community of Ashburn VA on Aug. 1.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I hope to see and meet some of you at the event.

Thank you for sharing...I will do my best to make it, and will also share with some fishing friends up here in the Jupiter area.

I'd love to if it was not so far up there (I live off Exit 1, turnpike, Homestead)

These are awesome though and worthy of all we can do to help!

Awesome I am so glad you shared this, there is alot of time for some of us to arrange to help out. I hope some will give a hand and support this event.

I have made this a Global Announcement so it will get more attention.

One of the things we are in need of is for someone (restaurant, grocery store etc) to donate lunch for the event (100 people or so). If anyone has any contacts, please let me know.

Also, please pass the word on to any veteran you may know. Lots of retired folks in the area that served for us.......we would love to have them participate.

Thanks!

Yikes! 2 weeks to go!

Could use some fishing experts to be "guides" and show the participants what and how to catch a few. :reeling:

Please make sure to sign up (either as a participant or volunteer) so we can have your info.

Looking forward to seeing some of you at the event!

We definitely need more volunteers as we have over 40 veterans registered to participate on the 12th.

We would love a one to one volunteer to participant ratio.

Thanks!

Heya, Ernie, Hey, I recently bought a unit in the new Sabbia Beach Condos
building in Pompano Beach and I will be moving out there in a couple of months with the missus. I was researching beach fishing in the area and I came across this thread. Could you please tell me a bit more about the event? How is the community there? I am very much looking forward to try some offshore fishing as well, maybe some surf action.

Mike,

I am not from that area but love it there and the fishing is terrific!

I have fished w/ Capt. Craig Korczynski (http://phlatsinshorefishing.com/) inshore and Black Dog Sport Fishing Charters (http://www.blackdogfishing.com/) for meat fishing out a mile or two in the ocean.

The guys at the West Palm Beach Fishing Club (http://westpalmbeachfishingclub.org/) are very helpful as are Jupiter Bait & Tackle (http://jupiterbaitandtackle.com/) and Fishing Headquarters (http://www.fishingheadquarters.net/).

The event is a yearly event where we bring wounded veterans from the area for a day of fishing and fellowship.

Check out the organization that is behind the effort (http://fco.ketrick.org/).
