I have been reading up on the humps in the keys and wanted to see if we can get a group together to head out. We would split the hotel and expenses. from what I have seen this can be the jigging meca for me and others. LMK guys and we can work out the details

See in my mind that sounds a little wrong I would have jigged the wrecks for AJs not the hump the guys hit the hump for tuna and to troll the backside for Pelagics
That's just my style though they should be there though the 409 hump I think is better for them

i know that feelIng when you try everything and still nada... The 409 might be better cuz of its depth lol the islmorada hump is only 290 but the deeper humps prolly produce more AJ but like I said it's overrated cuz people claim it's everyday type fishing spot when it's really not

I love jigging and all but 400-500 feet is not fun IMO

If you are going to hit the humps on the weekends trust me dont waste your time unless you just want to see the keys or something. There will be 500 boats on the weekends.

I fished there a few times, this has been my luck:
April to May. Monday to Thursday - Is great but way too many sharks
August to October Monday to Thursday - Is great and less sharks
Any other month still good if you fish them right

If you go out there the main thing is to bring a LOT of live bait for livey chumming. Chunking works too but it is not as effective. If you blackout your livewell and get there first thing at sunrise you will kill it!!!

Even if you are jigging, live chumming is the name of the game, you are in a place where a surprise YFT could happen, same as a bluefin... Although rare, they are more common along here. Look at your bottom machine, learn to drift past the humps WITH the current and the wind. Expect a lot of company out there no matter what day you go.

Post a report. It can be worthwhile to hit them at the right time of the year! Good luck!

I mean, nothing is guaranteed... BUT I have personally seen both out there, not huge, but the YFT was 40 lbs which is bad ass in my book... Look for BFT on the hefty side of the spectrum too... The blue i saw was just cruising and did not want to eat lol, still a bad ass sight...
