Nope, unfortunately the T is still fenced off I asked the young guy working at the shop if he knew anything, he was clueless. I just have a feeling they will never reopen it

Probably after it closes it will be repaired. Then when they reopen, it will supposedly be a whole new tourist attraction mega-complex, and who knows what kind of price tag they'll put on pier access. The free lunch will be over, lol. eatpop

Biting my tounge to say it lads but it's never going reopen as a fishing pier. In a years time Joes Stone Crab could open at theT and there will be zero opposition. Hope I'm wrong cause poor Beowulf has some kind of an allergy to fishing any place other than Pompano cause it's always got the best action.

So Mr, KOS, you never did say, what's the word on west coast fishing? Ok, so now I'm gonna post this report just for you man... back in Oct when the NE came in hard, I had a record day at Pompano, limited on BIG pomps all on Goofy's, then switched to blues just for fun. It was non-stop action for two days, then it totally died.

Tried a couple of early afternoon hours with a white Crappie jig and a clear plastic float, no luck for the mackerel.

Windy choppy day, but no regulars were trying for them...not around at all?

Didn't see anything being caught.

That is a strange set up. But leaning a rod on the rail seems to be very easy.
I have seen hobbits standing on coolers to cast better and get that tuna tower vision

There were a bunch of short kingfish around last week... did you manage to get a keeper? Spanish macks were around too.

Nope, not a King, but a big fat Spaniard as big as a King. :D In my belly now, too late for pic, but it wouldn't fit in my cooler without some bending. Just wondering if any of you were out there today. Got it on a teeny tiny jig, no wire.

Lol, I knew somebody would say that. :uplol:

As far as pics go though, I'm so past taking pics of fish like that, not to brag, but I catch alot of nice fish and don't ever photograph or post about them. But yesterday there were several guys out there that looked like they might be from this forum, so that's why I asked if anyone saw me. Mine was the only big fish caught and it got alot of attention.

As for a report, I've been out a couple times a week this past month and the mack bite is slowly improving but still slow pickings, at least at this pier. Pompanos have been tiny and scarce. Occasionally, a nice AJ has been landed.

PS: That mackeral tasted a little too gamey, and I'm sure the mercury is up there too, I'm going to be throwing the dino's back...

Ok Jared, this one's for you, oh, and for you too KOS, lol. This is from 10/19/15 at Pompano Pier when the first big Nor'Easter came through. Limited on Pomps using jigs, then switched to blues for fun, every cast was several choppers chasing the lure. This lasted 2 days and then the fishing died for over a month. It's just now started to come alive again.

Better late than never eh?

I think if they have a lot of yellow on them, they are from the river as oppose to the ocean. But I am not sure

Anybody try the farm raised from china pomps that some markets carry? Do they taste like pompano with undertones of sewage as I suspect?
