Post by phantomreefer »

This pier has been a second home to many, our voices NEED to be heard, please email the problems with the pier and its management, its condition and how its gone down hill.
EMAIL as soon as you can to fishermanspierinc@gmail.com
ALSO please go to facebook and send a request to the profile of, Save Anglins Pier for updates.

THE GOAL IS TO BRING BACK THIS AWESOME PLACE TO THE GREATNESS IT ONCE WAS. GET SPIRO OUT, GET MARTHA BACK IN!!!!!!! THANK YOU
Wisdom, justice, temperance, and fortitude. And if none of that works, kick em in the nuts!

Ten hours and not a single response? That pier Is sweet but, to your point, obviously no one beyond yourself cares. Sad

Far from the truth people care. The point was driven home to most on FB over the last few days.

FF73 what pray tell is a FB? And better yet are guys like us supposed to know what it is? Just tell me it's not one of those online things that you show pictures of what you ate for breakfast or your diks. Is that NY Jew Weiner guy a member? Or is it a fight club thing where guys get together, beat the crap out of each other and can't talk about fight club?

Let's see. Phone hasn't worked in years. Parking lot is overpriced as restaurant takes priority over fishermen. Guys being escorted off pier and banned for not wearing shirts , cursing , and disagreeing with new management . Pier is disgusting with overflowing trash cans and rotten fish and bait everywhere. Zero enforcement of listed pier rules unless you upset new management. There is absolutely zero effort given to improve pr even maintain pier since new management has taken over. Basically a shithole compared to what it's been in the past. Been fishing it since 1985 so that says a lot.

One thing I can say is the price of parking lot is absolutely telling us to go away... It would've worked if it were the only pier at S FL but there are many other choices. This pier is for tourists who don't know other choices... Also, once pompano pier renovation is done, not so many tourists may show up...

On a more serious note, although I'm talking out of my a--, I still believe the pier is losing money every day, they owe state and federal taxes, they are behind on paying utilities, and the dirtbag that "owns" has been grabbing all the cash he can and has done so throughout the decline. He's going to be sucking the life out of the business until it's gone.

I haven't been to Anglins in almost two years now. I think the last time was because I was summoned along with GK to meet the boss because we were abusing the crazy Cuban kid and he was threatening suing the bunch of us. (tommy (tommy (tommy Anglins along with Juno and of course Dania were my three favorites. Sorry to hear it's gotten this bad so quickly. The good old days.........

wow cant believe it has gotten that bad now... i remember fishing there about 8 years ago wimberly, garland and the other regulars that were there and it was getting bad at that time... you would get banned because you had some shrimp up on the BAIT table for to long. parking sucked for how ever long i can remember. the only decent thing about spiro was his daughters... do i need to say more? haha. Amyways, i moved 5 years ago to the west coast in the pine island sound area and i came back to visit a few months. 1. i could not find a parking spot at all down there! when you get down to the main drag down there it is horrible. janets husband that was working at the time allowed me to go take a walk out there and all i can say is that it went to poop. probably the worst Birds and the Bees place ive ever been to in my life. louie seriously needs to get back in control of that place or they will lose it to the city.

what the F are you people talking about? The only change is that they rarely let this regular pass with a five...instead they collect 7. The garbage bags are changed, they replace rotten wood, fish still bite when they are in the mood. Specifically what is everyones problem with the pier and mgt? You pay your $7 and then you fish.....what is the problem?

I pretty much explained it as simply as I could. If you don't get it then no way I can break it down anymore for you. If you don't see the issues then good for you. I see them and have pretty much stopped going due to them.

Go figure yourself by checking out how much you have to pay for 4 hours of fishing at anglin, pompano, deerfield, lake worth, dania, juno,, newport, PE ...etc ? I can get on kelley fleet for 4 hour head boat fishing at $27 per trip (with purchase of 11 trip book) that covers parking...
I just can't justify to go to Anglin...

You have to pay hourly. No more all day parking. Hourly parking is very expensive. I think the range is $3.50 - $5 an hour. 3hour limit applied... Parking citation is $25, which may not be a bad deal...

The spots along the street in front of the pier, the small lot just north of the pier and lot just north of pier and one street west, and a second larger lot about a block or two north of the pier are all $2 per hr. Also I think the dirt lot just south of the pier and one street to the west might be $1.50 per hr, but it has been about a yr since I checked.

I've been fishing this pier a few times a week since I moved here a couple months ago. I have never seen the garbage overflowing. The rules have worn off the sign, so I'm not exactly sure what they are, but I haven't seen much enforcement, and no one kicked out.

The lot close to the pier is expensive. The ones bigyellowtuna highlighted are the cheaper ones. I think those prices are correct.

My only complaint is they could power wash it more, which they were starting this morning (did half the pier I think). Do they do that with any regularity? Sometimes it seems the same fish guts and bird poop has been there forever. Often all the seats are pretty nasty in the heavily fished areas and it's hard to find a place to sit. Other than that, it is what I would expect.

You get what you pay for. I personally like higher prices for parking and admittance so that the pier is less crowded and I can catch a fish without getting tangled in 50 other lines.

I realize this a reply to an old thread. I haven't fished Dania for 2-yrs. Got sick and tired of the condition of the pier. Sick and tired of the expensive (nearby) parking. The cost of admission, bait, parking, etc just made it way more appealing to fish other spots. Besides, the fishing at Anglins was never all that great. I'm pretty sure its been years since they sold live bait. And what's was always most aggravating to me was getting stared down by the restaurant owner on my way to and from the pier... since you have to walk right through their ""restaurant"". I say that with quotes. Because I would never eat there. I have heard from a few people that the owner HATES FISHERMAN. Then WHY the heck would he buy a restaurant on a pier??

He owns the pier and the Greek restaurant nearby as well as numerous other properties in the area.

Okay. I gotta chime in at this point. A little perspective on the subject. I practically grew up on Anglin's Pier. I'm talkin' starting back in the late 50's, early 60's. At this point, you've figured out that I'm old. Well, good for you, Johnnie. I fished with some of the great and near greats for years; Lee Cammin, Steve Kantner, Terry Jones, Dennis Curran and Frank O'Black, just to drop a few names. It was a wooden paradise for a kid with his own rod and tackle box. And if you had a bucket, you were some kind of king. On Friday afternoons, after school let out, six or eight of us would all pile into somebody's mom's station wagon and off we'd go down the road with 27 rods, 15 tackle boxes, six buckets and one guy even had a hoop net. We were armed with everything from 6/0's to Shakespeares, to Orvis', Penns, and even a Zebco or two. It seems five bucks would just about cover an entire weekend there. The only real meal we'd eat was a 3-D burger at the Ho/Jo's out on A1A on Saturday afternoon. With fries, of course. We'd fish till late Sunday afternoon when another mom would come and retrieve us and all our junk, and maybe even some fish and haul all our skinny little asses home again. If you wanted to catch some Z's, you could sleep under the pier in the sand. poop was a lot safer back then. So, I've seen a lot of changes happen, some for the good but sadly, and lately, a lot for the bad. And yes, I know "you can never go home again". And "everything changes". But, to change to the way things are now is shameful. Ever since parking went to $10 (and that was for however long you wanted at the time), I've been hesitant to go. Seven bucks just to get on board? Does that keep the riffraff away? Maybe. But stupid rules, and I mean some are really stupid, and attitudes of management and "banning" for whatever reason they deemed fit is cow poop. The last time I went, I walked in the shop and it was 5:30 am, and the kid behind the counter - didn't even say hello or good morning - asked me if I wanted a hot dog. Rather than say yes or no, I asked him why he asked me that. The response was, "because the boss wants me to ask everybody the same thing". Obviously, there was a hot dog cooker and bun warmer staring me right in the face, there on the counter. And the price was $4. No thanks, kid. That'd be $21 before I even wet a hook? I'll be anxious to see what happens with this so called court case. I know Spiro owns the Athena and (unfortunately) also the pier. He is a poor manager in this regard. As change has happened from when I was an original plank owner, it needs to happen again. Will I go back? Not anytime soon, thank you. File this under "To Be Continues". Shout out to "Crash" and "Rare", whom I still owe a cheeseburger. Out.
Those other fish must be smart. We caught all the stupid ones!
