if they are tearing through your leader when they jump its because your fishing to much drag when they start jumping n such u have to basicly put your reel in free spool

not really to much pressure. its when they spin they get rapped up in the second leader which is mono and thatz when they get nasty and cut it.
i do agree that the longer the leader is much better so they cant reach to the mono.
the reason why i used a short wire is so that when i break it off the fish will only carry
about 2ft leader and not more.

i got steel wire but only 2 feet of it. the second leader is mono 80lb.

Went out around 4ish and quit a little later than 6 30. Looks like I came just a tad late as all the tips were giving everyone a funtime right before I got there. I saw a guy heading out with a cooler full of jacks, he said a school of baitfish and the jacks were all over the place this AM, thus keeping the sharks in for some time. It was pretty slow for the most part that I was there, I couldn't get a hook to stay in a tip's mouth so none for me today. Towards the end this guy pulled up a decent grover from the pilings on live shrimp, I'm sure he got a couple more after I left...

I have some more reports of sharking with pics and what not from last weekend, just needa find some time as school has been keeping me busy

"cooler full of jacks" .. hmm sounds like shark fishing in winter Keys... or Jamaican supermarket in Lauderhill @ US7, where i saw Crevalle Jacks for sale on shell first time in my life, tought times in US, ha:) no fishing there (i didnt mean Derrfield, i meant Lauderhill), at Deerfield - for really sure.

Fished from 730-4pm, really slow, no bait, some big cudas around, some caught on tubes and live houndies. No cobes, no bonita, no sharks.

Slayed em yesterday...





The last pic is Carlos and his dads' catch. These jacks came in a huge school and stayed for a little while. Some were also caught on trolley/bottom.

At night, a small king came up, and a bunch of bluefish. I lost a snook on a live shrimp, and some guy landed two on shrimp in the lights, one looked about slot. Right before I left at 10pm some guy landed a fat 6ft+ blacktip on his avet mxl. Pretty epic day out there.

Fished Friday for a couple hours. 11:00am - 1:30pm

About 5 decent bluefish came over and some other trash. Fished some jigs in the surf hoping for the first pompano of spring but it was way to windy even fishing 1 oz. I later was told about an 18lb king that was caught.

Gonna start digging for fleas tomorrow and fish them in the afternoon.

went yesterday evening to see if the pomps were still around but nada, wish I had the time to go in the AM
i ended up catching a nice blacktip and some guy got a decent grover. The sunset was amazing like always
