Don't drive until insurance kicked in...
Sorry guys...I have to throw some questions and hit me up hard with answers...lol
what are you guys using for flat line?
8, 10,12,15 LB mono?
10 or 20 LB leader? How long?
1/8 trolley light or split shot
Do you use circle or j hooks?

first before i answer r u coming?
trolley? you dont need that
bring 2 rods.
1 for flat lining for yt. 15 to 16 lb test mono. 20 lb flouro leader, 15 also if u wana go light. 2 to 3 feet. tied to troll right/ hookup/yellowtail jig 1/16oz-1/8 depending on current
bottom rod- 6-8 ft conventioanl, 50 lb test (mono or braid) I wont be fishing bottom
you can use circle hooks or j hooks, doesnt matter, i like using j hooks when i am holding the rod one day, then i see people catching on circle, and i switch
therefore i take sizes 1/0, 2/0, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 in both circle and j hooks so i am covered for anything, plus some long shank hooks if i see macks, which is rare

Re: anyone wana go on gulfstream
you can definitely be back by 730. where do you live? i only have a 2 seat car and was going to pickup baseball man. we get back at 5, it takes 1 hour 30 minutes max to get back to cooper city with traffic, i live right by there, so you should have an hour to spare. just take card sound road back i go 100mph. i am going regardless assuming there isnt a tornado and my finger isnt broken, i have a dr apt. monday morning so i dont need to know if you are coming, just show up if you want to go lol
if you want i can take your fish for you, then right when we get back you dont have to wait for them to sort them, you can just leave

Re: anyone wana go on gulfstream
Yea u could easily make it back by 730 without even speeding lol....I bring a spinner with 12lb,15lb, and 30lb mono and rolls of 8 +10lb fluro leader..I bring a convo bottom but it rately gets used ... And like j said hooks from 1/0-5/0/ and any kind of troll rite, banana, yellowtail jigs I don't bring heavy lead nothing more than 6oz but then again I also don't fish bottom but for maybe an hour or if the bite turns on.

Re: anyone wana go on gulfstream
Can u believe I'm spooling line using the new rod and I hear a crack come from the reel seat...its a small crack on the plastic lip of the top slot doesn't seem to affect how it holds the reel though since the metal Over the plastic is what really holds it...damn I'm pissed but what the hell I'm going to use it then exchange at BPS for a new one...but super excited for the trip I'm getting my gear together already

The redbone Is perfect for yt I can bring it wed if u wana feel it. It's lighter than my 17 lb rod. They just so rating diff. Plus u get a life time warrenty if u crush it in ur car or walk it into walls like I sometimes do

Typically, how many are doing trolling?
If there is room, I will bring my rigged-up ribbon fish and 50W...lol

Re: anyone wana go on gulfstream
Slow as Fuh yellowtail bite today... me, kblue and HJared each caught 2 tails a piece, weird thing, one of HJared tails got lost but one was gifted back to him, he also got a nice king on vert jig and lost another small one. Other than that it was maybe 25 tails and 8 kings for the whole boat, so a slow day unless u were targeting the kings...too many blue runners and the Sharks were so thick you could see them chasing fish on the way up. Pictures will come soon and its time to plan another trip with a hotter bite lol
There was some tourists and noobs, on a Wednesday of all days so that made things slower too

Re: anyone wana go on gulfstream
That was fun trip overall... another good learning trip of unique south Florida fishing...
I was happy that I was able to test my calstar with 16 oz weight... The bending was awesome... it handles 16 oz like 3- 4 oz...
I was also happy to see how to catch top-middle water fish like king mackerel on anchor boat...
Sandball was a lot of fun...except my reel has been massed up with sand.
I don't even know how time passed so fast...I was like in a production-line assembly...

Re: anyone wana go on gulfstream
This was my summary of sandball tail fishing assembly line for anyone who never done it before...lol
It was a lot of fun.
1) put bait
2) wait for your turn by getting on the line.
3) make sand ball and open the bail
4) wrap the line (30 wraps)
5) hand throw the sand ball
6) put the rod on corner while bail open
7) wash your hand (I forgot to wash my hand so my reel got lot of sand )
let the line out and walk down
9) get a bite and fish on and head fight begins
10) shark start to go after the tail. (I could actually see the huge shark chasing after tails)
11) Crank and jerk as fast as possible. One of three things happens,
12-1) line pop. ( this happen three times to me when I use 10 LB)
12-2) Shark swallowed and drag goes crazy and line cut off
12-3) Beat the speed of shark and tail(or runner) over the rail. (I could only do this after changing 15 LB)
13-1) If line cut off or pop, make new rig and go to 1) and repeat
13-1) If you land a fish, go to 1) and repeat
