What is the price of admission?

Post by outofair »

I am currently in the thinking/planning stage of convincing myself (and wife) that I need a yak. :D I use to kayak in highschool around Virginia Key beach. Recently my wife and I did a kayak tour in Hawaii on our honeymoon and enjoyed it. Ever since then, I have started thinking about getting one. The thought of fishing from one seems even better.

I noticed there is a club that meets in Broward county. Are noobs allowed to stop by? Before I commit to buying one i'd like to rent a few times and tag along with some more experienced paddlers just to get my feet wet.

How do you guys fight fish from your kayak? The thought of being pulled around reminds me of flipping off the ocean kayaks we used in Key Biscayne.

There is never a cost for the yak club. You are welcome to stop by any meeting we have. As far as testing yaks, Jeff at Kayak Jeff's has plenty of nice fishing yaks and would be glad to take you for test paddle. Give him a call at 954-926-5766 & tell him yak-attack (Paul) sent you. We are planning a day in May where we can all get together on a Sunday and fish. Our next meeting is May 24th at 7PM. Come meet the gang.

I should be able to make the meeting and look forward to it. I may have gathered a buddy who is also interested in Kayaking and will drag him along as well. We were talking about renting kayaks this weekend but looks like we will be trying to do some diving instead.

Anyone have any good vids of people fishing from kayaks?

Here is a link to Amazon, This guy Dennis just about invented the sport of yak fishing. The video is about fishing on the west coast but he does have some good ideas. God Luck & hope to see you there.

If you go to this sight you can watch some cool videos too.
