Got to the pier at 04:30 and found Justin already in the water out catching bait near the end of the pier.... I unloaded the Yak and prepared it for battle.... got in the water and slipped over to a down bucket that I had loaded up with 5 Doz. or so Pilchards the afternoon before.... only problem was somebody decided they needed some baits and Lifted around 2 doz or so....at least they left me some.... at grey light we headed out and found that we were battling a very strong North current in addition to a 5 mile an hour SE wind.
Nothing like a good work out first thing in the morning.... I stopped around 3/4 of a mile out and slipped the anchor over while Justin did some slow trolling in the area looking for a good spot. I popped two small Strawberry Grouper right away... ( BTW what is the possession/ size limit on Strawberries?) and tossed them back.... Had a big blowup on the balloon bait but he missed the hooks.

Justen hollered to come over where he was.... He had located a good size rock pile about a mile offshore. where we set up for the rest of the morning. He got a nice King and a Cero, I picked up a Cero and some Snapper and other bottom fish keeping a good size Grover for dinner.

Justin was out of bait by Noon and headed in to clean his fish.... I decided to hang out some more but in a hour or so a good size storm came in and I made a bee line for the sand ( I do not mind the rain but that fire gets me squirming every time )

All in all a pleasant and productive day on the water.
Till next time,
