Update
Just wanted to let you guys know........
I was approached yesterday by the editor of the fishing report in the thursday Miami Herald. She looks foward to meeting with me to try and do a story for The Miami Herald. As soon as I get together with Boatlessfisherman and baitwetter i will be contacting her to get the"scoop".
So far this petition has generated alot of interest and primarily i have to thank boatlessfishing.com and all its members. You guys have given about 60% of the signatures to date, more than half. Thats awesome!
Theres more things in the works but as they come to light I will let you guys in on it.
I truly want to thank you guys for your support and i look foward to fishing the piers and bridges and coast with you guys.

Re: Update
Thought you might be interested in this: we're trying to oranize a group from here to go clean-up, distribute literature and reclaim the Rickenbacker pier. If you'd like to contact the reporter you mention that would be great. I also know a couple reports who I have alerted and are waiting on more details. You're more than welcomed to join in once we set a date.thisolesinker wrote:Just wanted to let you guys know........

I can't believe you can't fish from the beach, I'm not sure thats even legal.
I signed-
I left a comment too;
"Public access must be preserved for recreational fishing. To whomever reads this, it is my sincerest hope that you will consider this petition carefully and act to reflect it's goal of safe and unencumbered access to our shores.
Recreational fishing is a healthy and socio-beneficial activity, that many working class people enjoy and also used as a source of nutritious natural food.
Thank you for your consideration and your time.
Sincerely,

Re: Florida Fishing Petition (please sign)
Most beaches are public property up to the high water mark(never let an oceanfront homeowner try and make you leave) you should be allowed to enjoy the beach for what ever recreational purpose you have in mind as long as you have public access and can legally park.
I do understand the actions taken by local police but their Gestapo tactics are uncalled for. I've seen beaches and piers left in deplorable condition night after night. Paper litter, beer cans and bottles left around not to mention bait rotting. The responsible fishermen are taking it on the chin from the irresponsible ones.

"For most of you fishing is your one and only vice...and I'm thankful that it's a healthy one. Fishing is one of the only sports/hobbies/pastimes where race, nationality and gender do NOT matter; It brings TOGETHER. It shouldn't be punished...it should be nurtured, encouraged and supported. You have my proud signature =0)"

+1 though I have mixed feelings about fishing beaches since there has been an instance where I found a lure on the beach ... it could have hooked anyone ... gladly it didnt ... I think we have a responsibility as well like participating in beach clean ups and so on.

better late than never guys
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.
