THE FISHING TRIP: DECEMBER 17TH, 2011
Aboard the “REWARD WON” with Captain Wayne

The Spot : Offshore Miami and Biscayne, Florida

weather : cloudy, winds of 0 to 8 knots

Seas: 1 to 3

Water: Clear all day

Fish catches : Amberjack, ALmaco Jacks, Gag Grouper, s wahoo, mall Blackfin Tuna, with bait bonitos and blue runners in the mix

Biggest size : Type : Amberjacks around 18 to 25 lbs, Mutton around 11 lbs, Gag Grouper around 18lbs, Almaco Jacks around 10 to 15 pounds

Technique : Jigging

Jigs :100-300 gram, Diamond jigs 100 gram… red/white, silver, pink, and glow worked the most.

Since last week's trip went well we decided to do it again so we went on Saturday December 17th. This trip was another great success. I only got bait on the trolling and lost my only big hitter. I don't know how my reel was at max drag. As soon as I was going to adjust it the line popped possibly at the knot. There were about four or five more grouper hits lost and at least two wahoo cut offs. One Gag was landed by English Fisherman (Adam) and that got everybody going and then the whole crew in the boat got so pumped up with the wahoo caught by sepaick (Sehoon), it was awesome to see and hear. I could not include much in the video since the language went above normal cursing, LOL....And then to top it off the Warsaw grouper caught by Greg made it even better. The bite also included the normal Almaco jack landings and only one tiny blackfin. As always, it was a blast. Can't wait to do it again. Here are some pics and there is a video to follow. 8)

As always many fish were released.

:biglaugh: Ain't that what we always hear? These trips are great. I can't wait to see how it's going to be on other boats as well.

We were fishing by Fowey Rocks, started on wrecks that were at 60 feet and then moved to wrecks that were 450 feet.

Nice pics Nelson :toast:

About how deep were you guys? I jig around the port in 200-300ft and produces alot more tunas then anything but no wahoos or groupers or snapper.

The wahoo was in about 410 feet. The groupers and snapper are usually taken from 150' to 350'

I assume you jig around the bottom 40 ft of the column to jig up snappers and groupers?
