Re: The adventure begins. Again!
Thanks for reporting!!!
Sounds like you go the same time each year as a crew.I am sure they are glad not to be dealing with the logistics of crossing the country each time. It will be even more fun recalling the highlights of the trip with the group that share the experience as you each probably will forget things that others will remember. Do they belong to a local forum in their area?

I'll be doing the 13/16 day trip with you and Chris in 2017.
The Judge asked the prostitute, "At what point did you realize you were raped?"
The prostitute replied (wiping away tears), "When the check bounced."

Yes it is normal to hand off a rod with a fish on it.... I got a 185 lb yft this trip and a 305 lb yft my first trip from hand offs. Last trip a guy was offering $200 to who ever passed a fish off to a guy he just met that hadn't landed a big fish yet. You set the hook and just hand the rod to someone. Seems crazy but guys have handed off fish of a lifetime to complete strangers. It is a different class of anglers and people on these trips.kblue wrote:Pat

Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

They hook the fish and pass the rod off while it is running. On these trip there are many repeat anglers who have caught many big tuna. They get a joy watching newbies landing their first tuna. Like Chris said different class of people.kblue wrote:you hand over fish caught on your rod and reel?fishnfool73 wrote:Yes it is normal to hand off a rod with a fish on it.... Call me stubborn but I dont think i cant take someone's else rod that was hooked on a fish. Yes, Yes, the fighting of the fish is the real challenge, i understand..... I will just go home with no fish but unless i do the whole 9 it just doesnt feel like i caught it.

I like hand off fish for a variety of reasons. I don't care if I lose it so I pull harder. I don't care if the gear breaks its not mine.

And that will be a good practice run as well...fishnfool73 wrote:I like hand off fish for a variety of reasons. I don't care if I lose it so I pull harder. I don't care if the gear breaks its not mine.
I guess I can go to this trip without spending money on gear... Those angels will hand off their rod with a cow already on to us...lol
And their gear would be so much better than mine anyway...

Re: The adventure begins. Again!
Very true dat! Another common occurance is to have a crew member hook up and hand off for a guy or gal with a cold stick. Fate, Karma, Juju, whatever, I've had and seen slumps where everyone else is catching except you. 2014 I went 3 days without a bite except sharks. If you put in the rail time and just have no luck, it's really amazing who and how many guys not only notice, but want to help. The fishing ain't the only reason I love these trips. I've made some great friends over the years. Same with the rooster crew. With so many regulars on board, it's less like a charter and more like a bunch of guys piling on a buddies boat. They hustle when needed, but most of the trip is pretty laid back. For me, handing off is just paying it forward.
By the way, This is how your fish arrives.
Nice Boat! Now get it outa my driveway!

Since most of what I brought had bit guides I was able to fit 6 rods but if you were to ship lighter stick I'm sure you could fit more

I actually saw Joey's travlin' case at the boat. Design and application very well done. I don't think I could make or buy a better one.
