They leave when Pat? I know they should be back Wed but how many hours is it to Deigo port since this is only a 10 day trip. Thanks for the updates and your fishing report! :toast:

Pat

Great reports...breathless to read it...

So funny... got a hundred pound tuna by throwing jig by hand line... now what... hurrying tie up the line but failed first trial... now what...so classic
wondering why that tuna didn't run like rocket...

Glad to see Joe scored. To answer your question Nels, it'll take all of 3 days to get back from mag bay. At least the part they were fishing. Magdelina Bay is just about 200 miles North of Cabo on the peninsula. Cabo is about 300 miles north east of the island (Clarion) and around 400 from the bank.

Rob, I decided to do day 4 in a seprate post. We decked 46 fish last day with Over a dozen cows. Nothing under a hundred all day. I spent most of the last day crewing because the actual crew was buried. It was glorious. Pretty cool to see a 73 year old guy deck a cow, get a pic, and drop a bait right back out and get hooked up. We call it the Ben Kita show. He'll do this all day if you let him. I don't have a clue. I need a sit down break.
Nice Boat! Now get it outa my driveway!

The only way I'm going is if you agree to stand next to me on the rail. Better yet, because you are one of my few buds that actually knows, I'm back in Homer the last week in August for the Halibut Tourney and then up to Dillingham to fly out for the salmon run. Weather is great (wife beaters lol) and it's daylight well past midnight as you know. It's like doing the same ten day trip but you get to sleep on land if you want. Too bad you have two kids to send to the Ivy League (tommy I hear your people are almost as smart as da Jews. Unfortunately, we bought the entire worldwide media and you guys went after the lucrative jig market.

Rare...I was actually shooting the chit with those two at the dock before they left. Both said they have done this before and they were pretty cranked to get going. Especially, with the slaughter laying all over the dock. I'm interested in getting Joeys take on the trip after reading Pats report. I found interesting his comment that he doesn't lose fish ANYMORE because of drag problems and (here's the killer) that hook pulls are history. Sounds to me this is not stupid "hang on" crank fishing like towing in a hammerhead. Plus, I ran the numbers regarding the cost of the equipment required to play with these fish!!!! Unless you plan to fish big tuna for the next 19 years the expenditure cannot be justified and you know where I'm goin with that (tommy
