It's been a while...
since I caught a king on a pier.
But this was the first one I landed on a newly wrapped (at the time) 7 foot Seeker blank and my old Penn 706.
Caught it freelining a 6" live scaled sardine from the Gulf State Park Pier in Gulf Shores Alabama
I sure miss that ole pier

Thanks!
The bottom two guides are stainless (60mm & 50 mm) the rest are 3-footed Fuji hardloy (40 mm - 10mm).
That reel holds well over 300 yards of 15# clear Ande mono.
PLENTY for a king that size. Just let 'em run like a scalded dawg, and when he stops (finally) you can put a fork in 'em, cuz he's done
The pic doesn't show the chips and wear on the green paint and the medallion missing
It's a magic setup though.

I see now you were talking about the one a couple pics above, that went right over my head for minute. Yea mine has a couple pds on yours. That pic of mine doesnt do it justice cause the fish is bent with the tail still on the ground. When I landed it, I had to pull it out from under the pier at one point in the fight and it struggled so hard it died. We had no gaff only a net and it was dead so we couldnt get it into the net and I had to beach the thing all the way down from the end of the pier.
