Saltwater Personal Best catch

You landed that Lunker, it's the biggest one you've ever caught and you're proud of it.
This is where you can share with the rest of us.
Please let us know the tackle you used, and the artificial. Please post pictures with you, fish, and tackle if possible, of your fish caught after November 1, 2006.

19 lbs on Fly - 12 lb Tippet - This was my first on fly. I caught it over the summer. I caught my fifth on fly Sunday. I consider this my best catch. There is nothing like catching a permit on fly. I consider my five permit on fly my five best fish.

Image

Estimated 75 lbs on Fly - 20 lb Tippet - Caught over the summer. My biggest tarpon on fly is 90 lbs, but I would have to go through a bunch of cd's to find the pic. I am hoping for a 100+ lber over the summer.

Image

6 lb 8 oz Bonefish on Fly - 10 lb Tippet one of 9 on fly for me this year- Again not my biggest, but part of a doubleheader! My dad caught the other fish. There is a smudge on the lense - usually something I notice, but I wasn't taking the pic. It actually kind of looks photoshopped, but I have more pics with the fish flopping and bad faces with the smudge still there for those that think that.

Image

10 lbs on 6 lb test - Tailing - Really cool bite. This ties my biggest bonefish, but the other on 10 lb test when I was little. Caught 1/1/08.

Image

15 lbs on 12 lb test - caught this summer

Image

Bottomed out a 30 lb Boga - I always call it 36 lbs for some reason and my Grandpa, who was with us, always calls it 40 lbs. Caught on 10 lb test. A while into the fight my dad tried to net it, and it exploded right through the net. I still has the rod in my hand, but it ran towards the engine. My dad held out his hand to keep it from touching the engine, and it worked perfectly. Eventually, we got it back up again for a pic. Since then, we have bought a bigger scale and better net.

Image

Caught on 20 lb Spin - If I tell you how big it was you probably won't believe me, because there is no perspective to base it on in the picture. There are other fish that I consider better catches, but this is the biggest fish that I have caught.

Image

These are a few of my best and favorite catches. I tried to post the more recent fish when possible. A lot of these were caught either over the summer or this year.

I wasn't sure whether or not it was just post some of our best catches, or post some of our best catches in each species. I will post some more pics if it is for each species.

I don't usually weigh my fish. If I've got a picture, than that's how big it was. I'm really bad at guessing, so I don't do it. The sail was a freak occurrance, it ate a black bomber 17a I was pitching at cobia that day. You can't spot a fish like that sitting on top and not take a shot at it. For the record, I don't hug my sails anymore.

I don't know if green is the appropriate word. That fish went berserk, I held on long enough for the photo and then pitched her head first back in the water. I don't boat sails at all any more.

i am envious of alot of you..great fish in this section, its cool to see the different big fish from different places. i just got my personal best 2 weeks ago down in bonita springs right about 25 miles south of where i live in cape coral. 131 lb tarpon (according to the formula) right off the beach. my bait was about 100 yards out and he took almost an hour to land. he was caught on a catfish tail, 7/0 circle hook connected to 5 feet of 200 lb test leader connected to 3 yards of 100 lb test line connected to 3 feet of double main line, i use a spider hitch. and i keep about 300 yards of 30 lb test on my spool. i use a palomar knot on my hook, and yucatan knots to connect the leaders and main line..no weights used on this particular catch, i let the tide drift the catfish tail. i have caught 2 or 3 bull sharks in the past that were possibly bigger but the big tarpon (my first 100 pounder) was a thrill i hope to have again soon!
