Long term keeping of live shiners

I do quite a bit of live bait fishing using shiners (minnows with shiny sides) . Keeping them alive in warm weather is a problem , that I have pretty well overcome . I have buried a large plastic tub in the ground , to within an inch of the top . This keeps rain water runoff from entering the tank . Add an aireator and a filter system . I have covered the entore top with an inverted , insulated , plywood box . I now am able to keep shiners year round , with minimal loss . Temps here in North Ga. range from 9 to over 100 deg. The surface has never frozen over , even in the coldest weather . If you feed the shiners , do so sparingly as the uneaten food will quickly contaminate the water . Only use untreated water in tank .
