Fished the venice pier last night. Granted I am a true novice. Saw two smaller blacktips landed. heard of a couple decent ones caught before I got there. I had a couple rips, one seemed solid, no hook ups. Wind was blasting in from the west. Plan to head back there tonight, if not there the skyway.

Another update. About a week ago someone landed a 7 foot tiger. Jesus is the anglers name. He is a fine angler, he deserved it. I had been gettin a good number of small sharks something like 10 days ago. but it has since slowed considerably. I did land a 400lbish goliath, my biggest fish ever.

Good to hear that the Sharks are starting to come in. Did you see the Tiger?

My buddy Jimbo has been up on Venice pier 2 times within the last month and he says mostly lemons,blacktips and a few bulls mixed in. he told me of a guy that goes out there with 16/0 that has been widened to twice it's normal width -that is to say a 32/0.He said the guy is trying to sell it on ebay for $2500.Too heavy and wide for me.

I have been fishing with jimbo down in venice and that reel is way over kill. and from what i hear its all a show when he hooks up but 2each his own. the tiger was a nice one. took him almost 2hrs and striped him on a 9/0 twice. 900yrds of line. (p.p.)

i have seen a few landed there my exs best friend is always there i cant stand fishing there tho its always to many people.
