So here's how it's gonna work. You post a question and i will answer it to the best of my ability. I don't know everything there ever was about spearfishing but i have experience and know a few people that have been doing this for some time.
Hopefully it will be a great way to eliminate some people's doubts or misconceptions and we can share some great info.

i want to get into spear fishing, but have no one to go with me. Would it be a good idea to go by my self on my kayak?

Re: Spearfishing Q&A
Never a "good" idea to go by yourself especially if new at it whether free-diving or on SCUBA.ermaclob wrote:i want to get into spear fishing, but have no one to go with me. Would it be a good idea to go by my self on my kayak?

Do people go by themselves? Of course they do, is it a good idea? no
There are clubs in the area. There are several advantages to joining a club IMHO
1) Learn from more experienced people. Some of the more experianced divers enjoy being a mentor. I hated being an Instructor, which I was for a short time, but I loved being a mentor to someone who showed real interest and a willingness to listen.
2) Scheduled events keep everybody more active.
3) You have a pool of peeps to draw from for a dive buddy
The downside is there are club dues that you may or may nt be able to afford.
The problem with writing about religion is that you run the risk of offending sincerely religious people, and then they come after you with machetes.
