In Boca, no kidding. Off of red reef? I live in Boca and have not tried anything close to home yet.

since my buddy here is going to college on the west coast in a few days,

and my bro doesnt really spearfish i guess we and other guys from the forum can get together and spearfish in our usual spots... i know somtimes its hard to find someone to go with so this would make it easyer.. btw what depth do u usually spearfish in?

I am very new to spearing. I have been out about 16-17 times now. The deepest we went was about 30, but we are usually between 15-25ft. I would be interested in going deeper with scuba gear.

for the spot in boca you definately need scuba gear if you want to catch lobsters, unless you can hold your breath for like 2 to 3 min, you will have a really hard time staying down there enough time to grab one.. but the depth is pretty good for spearfishing if it wasnt for the really strong current i would have felt pretty comfortable

What are the fish at the bottom of your pic with the big eyes? And how do you prepare them?

Dammmmm!!!!!! A fish that RICKY won't eat and you keep it .

Toros or big eye snappers are excellent to bad as far as eating goes. When I used to work at a fish market we at times sold them as blackened snapper. They are decent eating in my opinion. The meat has a weird color to it at times but cooked up white and flaky.
