fished this morning at bill bags from 8-11. caught abunch of bait at the rickenbacker before heading out to the park. high tide was a little before 8 and thought i might have a shot at something at the tide change. got one solid hit on a live sardine, then around 9 current became too much. lost majority of my sardines to annoying needlefish, a sardine wouldnt last 20 seconds before it was either eaten or killed. no decent fish this time, oh well.

also caught some tiny fish on the sabiki that looked like baby mackeral, and had these little spines. pretty sure it was somewhat poisonous because when it pricked me it was a strange type of burning feeling. i remember catching them offshore when i was younger but i dont remember what they are called, anyone know?

Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

Nice report, were you catching bait at Rickenbacker on sabikis or were they thick enough to net?

Did it look like this? Be careful when handling them. Their bottom has two sharp spines. Very painful.

yea thats the fish, thing sucked.
i fished mostly at the first platform, and the bait at rickenbacker wasnt thick enough to net. had to move around to get them, but they were there.

Mostly live shrimp and chunked up ballyhoo then switch up to chunked up mullet. The jack and cuda were caught on mullet.

Keep in mind you can also rent a boat for about $200 - $300 for a full day without having to be a member of a "boat club".

man, i thought i'd never see myself having to go to bill baggs, but anyways, im happy i did.went out there at about 845 and set up in one of the many platforms. just looking to waste time i had a permit rod set up but no hits. while i was waiting, i decided to throw my yozuri meanwhile. 2 casts later, a cero mack comes up and then a couple of casts later, a spanish mack along with a few followers behind him. after all the excitement, i ended up with 4 spanish macks and one cero. biggest mack was 23". now i know i can get some macks elsewhere other than the rickenbacker, even though as i passed by, i saw a few people on there fishing. i wasnt taking the risk. will post picks later. tight lines :thumleft:
