Re: Juno Fishing Pier Reports 2010 "Reports Only"
Hit the pier 6.30 am and there was around 20 people fishing already in the dark.I was fishing at the T and caught 3 nice Mack in 10 minutes and then some Blue Fish on the south side. Then around 7.30 everything slowed down. There was some bait at the front but not much. There was a lot's of mullet at front later in the morning and some nice blue fish were chasing them. The mack's came back later in the morning but that time the pier was to crowded.I saw some small red fish coming up at the front but only 1 over slot Snook all day.I left around 2.30 with 4 Mack's and 3 blue fish.Very nice day and the fishing wasn't to bad either.

Re: Juno Fishing Pier Reports 2010 "Reports Only"
Fished the pier today from open to 6pm. Bait was very scarce.....some scattered up in the surf, but almost non-existant at the T. Small pods of mullet were coming through every once in a while being busted by lady fish and blues. Mac bite was good in the morning for a couple of hours, but after that, it was just one here and there. Saw some pomps caught, most were too small, but saw a few keepers caught also. I finally caught my first pomp....looked like it might be a keeper ....but alas, the tape measure said 10 3/4"....so back in he went Guess I'll get a keeper one of these days so I can see if I like pomp or not!! The main catch of the day was Blues....most of them on the small side, but a few nice 2-3 lb ones mixed in.
All in all, a gorgeous day to spend out fishing!!

Re: Juno Fishing Pier Reports 2010 "Reports Only"
you must have no wire leader or your jigging for them. put a short piece on and save you some lures. or if you wanna use mono... just reel kinda fast. i dont know if you jig for them but if so, the blues will miss the lure a lot of times and cut the line through.Eatsomerice wrote:left about 11pm bluefish galore lost 5 lures
i use some heavy mono when targeting blues and i have to keep cutting the frays almost every 2 or 3 blues i catch. now i got wire so ima stick with it instead of mono when i really want nothing else but a bluefish.

I had 30lbs mono on there. They went nuts and ate everything. Thanks for the tip!fixed80 wrote:you must have no wire leader or your jigging for them. put a short piece on and save you some lures. or if you wanna use mono... just reel kinda fast. i dont know if you jig for them but if so, the blues will miss the lure a lot of times and cut the line through.Eatsomerice wrote:left about 11pm bluefish galore lost 5 lures

oh yeah they will certainly go through that real quick. maybe bump up to 60lb mono or buy the wire. but like you said, even when there too thick... they will chomp through every thingEatsomerice wrote:I had 30lbs mono on there. They went nuts and ate everything. Thanks for the tip!
including the line well above the leader.

Re: Juno Fishing Pier Reports 2010 "Reports Only"
24oct10
- got to the pier a little late.
fish from 7:15am - 9:45am
The bluefish was all over the place from the second house all the way back to the surf.
the bluefish was about 14-16 and some are larger inches.
- they we mostly hitting on lures, xrap, spoon, plug, etc.
- they were hitting on the south side, with is strange because most of the time is on the north side.
- the wave was high.
- high tide is at 10:00am.
- the blue was hitting from the pier open til 8:30 am and then after that they were gone.
- I hang around to see if there were any other fish, but NOTHING.
- when home with 6 nice blue fish.
NOTE Juno will be open 7/24 starting on November 1

Re: Juno Fishing Pier Reports 2010 "Reports Only"
Well there were plenty of bluefish to catch.
No one there could really fish though so they would just wait for someone that could to spot the pod of blues and catch one.
Then you would have 30 people behind you throwing shiat everywhere.
so that bpretty much made me leave.

Re: Juno Fishing Pier Reports 2010 "Reports Only"
That was the closest I've seen to "raining blue fish" or "flying blue fish"!! Never could quite figure out why people have to sling a 2 or 3 pound fish from the water 15 ft below the pier to 10 ft above the pier and wherever it lands, it lands!! It could be your head, your tackle box, or almost anything else on the pier! Kind of funny to just stand back and watch the mayhem though!!Ryan71 wrote:Well there were plenty of bluefish to catch.

Re: Juno Fishing Pier Reports 2010 "Reports Only"
31oct10 update on the morning fishing.
- got to the pier at about 6:05am ,, pier was not open.
- so got some time to redo my line. 1 for bait and 2 for lures.
- pier open up about 6:25-30am, I was the second group that enter the pier.
- Tide is already going out, High tide was at 3:00am and 4:00pm today.
- walk all the way to the second house and came back about 5-10 ft.
- try to use the lure on 4 case and nothing.
- hook up some nice fresh lady fish bait that my brother got last night from boynton inlet.
- really small lady fish, so cut up some nice fillet pieces.
- less than a minutes it was fish-on. nice Blue,
- the blue was eating for about 30minutes to 1hour , by 7:30am it was quite.
- I landed 4, 2 got away.
-between my two brothers, we got 11 blue, nice size all over 15inches.
-I would guess that my two brothers lost about 3-4 fishes.
- we pack up around 9:00am.
- at the end of the pier there are some Mac, but it was WAY to many people out there.

2nov2010,
did not got fishing to day, but my brother did.
- got to the pier at 4:00am (pier now open 24hours) , was planning to fish til 7:00am
- by 4:30am he already got his limit of 10 blue.
- so he hang around to see if he get any larger size to swap out, but all are same size, over 15inches.
- so time to clean the fish and go home. he was already home by 6:30am..
overall blue was hitting in the early morning.
- using mullet and lady fish as bait.

Thanks for the report, but let your brother know its illegal to "swap out" fish like that...once you've kept your limit, you cannot keep any more, any more you catch have to be released.avet4life wrote:2nov2010,

Re: Juno Fishing Pier Reports 2010 "Reports Only"
Went to the pier last night for first night of open all night fishing. Bluefish bonanza all over the pier from beach to "T". Mostly all Asian talking ClangPan. Chung Bong Dong means something like bluefish coming over the rail and you better duck!! One guy had one land on his shoulder next to his neck and it was there for about 10 seconds trying to bite his neck or ear. Saw some blood. Lots of Bong chang dong clang yelling going when he got bit.
Anyhow about 9:00 a bruhaha broke out about mid pier. One of the Asians apparently crossed a locals line one too many times and cut him off. Lots of yelling and then the Asian pulled a knife on the local. A threat of a stomping with the butt of a fishing rod followed.
I decided to leave. On my way out the local was in the pier house and called Juno police. I walked out to the parking lot and waited to see the arrivals. Juno police show up with in minutes. One officer gets out of one of the two cars that showed up, I said hello and was interested in what was going to happen. Officer walks to bathroom in no hurry , comes out and says "one day open at night and already trouble".
They have seen it before. I left before the haul out.

Re: Juno Fishing Pier Reports 2010 "Reports Only"
Got out there at about 8am today, messed with bluefish between the huts with asian nick n elias. To many idiots about taking out heads off with lures n casting all over the place so elias left n me n nick went to the t to find it a freaking mess from last night. We got it all cleaned up but seriously if you wanna continue to fish there keep the place clean, there's bait cutting stations for a reason, don't use the rail or the deck, there was pile of cut mullet in the middle of the t we had to wash off the side. Anyway, more bluefish n a couple small macs out at the t, still a bunch of freaking people at the t even for a week day. Things need to die down n it needs to get cold so mr cobia will show up n nothing else will be around at the t so it will be safe to stand at the damn rail.

I am an Asian guy but follow the law as much as I can, as I learn along the way.
Thanks "PhishingPhanatic" for the education on hitting the limit and release.
For the Asian group that does not respect the limit, the rules, the local that fish there, rule of the pier, CALL the Police, that is the only way that they get the message.
I try to educated them whenever I get a change, but I get reply such as "who are you to tell me what to do". so CALL the Police or Fish and Game

Wow....sounds like its become a dangerous place to fish. Hope that crap comes to a halt when the brownies start showing. If it doesn't somebody might slip and get a cobia gaff stuck up their ass.

You people should start dressing up as Rambo or Chuck Norris when you go out there. Including holding a machete with your teeth as you stroll by them.

I think dressing like Godzilla might be more effective.Zebco wrote: You people should start dressing up as Rambo or Chuck Norris when you go out there. Including holding a machete with your teeth as you stroll by them.
