From 8-Noon the bite was slow but there were a few scattered mack, blues, undersize Cobia, pompano, one nice king, and assorted lesser species.

Can't understand why it wasn't better. Conditions were good.

As an official "grasshopper" trainee of the now defunct Team Pier-bum fishing team, I can attest to Beach bums claims no matter if they sound crazy to you. A fishing challenge against these guys is a great way to lose your gear!!
I have seen some crazy s**t while fishing with them and nothing surprises me anymore.

Paul, send a smoke signal or something dude!
Sad to be sitting out this years Shorebound Shark Tourney due to work issues. Good luck to all that participate!!!

Anyone been to the pier after Noel? I read the beach got hit real bad there. I want to go this weekend, but if the fishin is dead from the pounding, then maybe wait another week or 2. The macks doin drive-bys there at all? What is going on at this pier??

Thursday and Friday at Juno

Post by TarponRob »

Thursday produced a few pompano and one 35 lbs cobia. The bite is picking up here. Friday morning produced two dozen pompano and a few macks. The permit have started to bite, but we need some skilled anglers to actually hook one so it will be landed. Sharks, sharks and more sharks at dusk and dawn. Tight Lines from Sharkey's Tackle.
If your not there you can't get the bite.

The cobia was a real monster. I think it was more than 35 lbs.
A guy friday caught a few macks from the se corner of T jiggin with sillver gotcha, but i couldnt land anything. Saw some decent pomps, but most were just too far away from casting range - they always seem to be like that hahahha

I must say, the sand perch are getting really big! Sad when the only thing i can report on is the size of the sand perch. :?

Quick update: Slim pickin's on fish today guys. A few pomps in the morning and a couple macks in the afternoon. ATTENTION NIGHT OWLS: The sharks are really biting at night on the pier. Spinners and Black Tips, 75 lbs to 150 lbs. Good fun on lighter tackle. Tight Lines from Sharkeys Tackle.

We are in the Publix plaza directly behind the SunTrust Bank. I can actually see the Juno Pier parking lot from the store. Stop the store or I will see you on the pier Tuesday and Wednesday.

Sailfish Hooooooooo

Post by TarponRob »

Yesterday, November 28, there was a sailfish caught on Juno Pier. I am trying to get a picture to post. It is exciting news as we have not seen one caught for over a year. Otherwise the pier is a bit quiet.

Nice. Only a matter of time before it gets cold enough to get one on DFP.

Cobia, Cobia, Cobia

Post by TarponRob »

It is that time of year when the hearty angler stands for hours on end looking for the elusive caribbean Cobia. They are here this week in Jupiter, FL. I caught one on Tuesday and hooked one other. I have it on good authority that two were caught today over 30 lbs. and one 18 pounder yesterday. That is about it from Sharkey's Tackle.

It has not been all that good, but there really only a handful of anglers fishing at night. Most folks are out there looking for bluefish, croakers and such. There have been a few permit hooked at night, but none caught as yet.[/quote]

Wait a minute, wait a minute, a sailfish was caught off the pier and there are no pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have heard about the sailfish, was even wispered about on the news, but no pics.

Come on now, whats up with that?

Wouldnt this put Juno in the battle of the piers, is this the only sailfish caught this year yet on a pier?

Lets have a few pics, and i bet it was the guy on the end who always puts out the trolly with the blue runner that takes up the whole SE T corner (and he snarls at you if you go near that end of the T for casting or anything, apparently thinks it is his turf only)
