Tried the Inlet for about 2 hours today; Caught a bunch of blue runners and a 20" spanish mackerel. Fun on the light tackle.

Any new reports? I'm considering going Monday and want to know if anybody has gone lately. I already did the valentine thing with my wife Saturday so I don't have to worry about her getting mad about me going.

Went out to the inlet about 10:30PM to see if there were any shrimp running and there were none. Nobody fishing either. Will check tomorrow night and report back.

Went out to the Inlet for the last 25 minutes of the incoming tide and I saw about 6 shrimps. Not enough to make it worth your while but more than last night when I saw none. Tomorrow night will probably be better.

Well about 8 PM last night I setup for shrimping at the inlet seawall after checking hillsboro inlet where at 7 PM they were elbow to elbow at the bridge and had caught 1 shrimp.
It was slim pickings all night and the tide was doing some wierd things. It was incoming til about 9 pm then it turned to out going soon after. About 11pm it seemed to go slack and started coming in again, for about an hour then it turned back out again. I was told by another fisherman that there was a dip in the rising tide last night. Needless to say with the funked up tide I didn't do very well. I ended up with 10 shrimps most of which were hand picked size. Just enough for a meal for one. I won't be out there again until the next cold front and hopefully it will be better.
As for the fishing there were a few fishing (drowning shrimp) but the only thing they caght were Cuttlefish which I saw more of then I've ever seen before. Maybe thats another reason I didn't see more shrimp.

Was driving by today and decided to go for a walk out on the jetty saw one under slot snook(24-25") caught on a live shrimp. The couple that caught the fish was fishing ocean side with a fish finder rig just short of the end of the rocks.

Went out to the inlet around 6 last night to see what was going on. The bait wasnt in there yet, caught some weird blue thing on some frozen strips I had in the freezer (not a bluefish). Didnt see anyone else pull anything out.

Highlight of the trip was the crazy dude in the inflatable airboat who barely made it past the rocks before getting towed back in

Went fishing the Boca Inlet today....crap. Saw one guy catch a Blue Runner the size of his hand...LOTS of bait though...seems things have slowed down everywhere...went out with a boat earlier in the week, caught lots of Triggerfish, but nothing else worth noting
P.S - didn't realize how good Triggerfish taste...WOW.
anyways, screw this, I'm driving down to the Keys, check it out there

Headed down to the inlet aout 5 AM this morning and fished for about 2 hours. Lost a fish without ever seeing him about 5:30. Big splash, stripped about 30 feet of line againt about 10 lbs of drag, and then opened has mouth and was gone.

Lost some shrimp to bait-stealers but no other action. Left about 7 AM and went for breakfast.

Will try again soon.

I didn't see a lot of any bait to be honest. I was on the south side near where the inlet turns north. I'm just starting at Boca inlet and have limited mobility, so tend to stay in one spot, usually close to my car.

Went out for the annual snook season opener with the lady. Out going tide started at about 11:15 pm, Within minutes I had my first fish around 25". I was stoked! About 2 beers later my 30" came aboard. At this point I am ecstatic and everything is just cake. Around 2:00 am my buddy Dave caught a 42"++ hog which he quickly released. Soon after the lady yells "fish on" and lands a 26" baby. All the action made the time very memorable and should help continue our 4 year tradition.
I Fished with 6" bomber lures (Yes BJR the Blue wind cheater DOES work). I will post a few pics of the fish caught. Thanks to all who have helped me grow. I look forward meeting some old and new friends on the front lines. Need sleep... Good luck to all and be safe!!

Nice report I was headed that way after meeting some friends at the Lion and Eagle. Hit Taco Bell at 1130 with intentions of going to the jetty, but went home to bed instead.

tons of mullet along seawall n jetty lastnight around dark, sharks tarpon n a few snook were on them pretty good. Cant wait to get off work n give it a shot. any suggestions on wat approach i should take get one. i,e. live or dead mullet, or artificials like a swimbait or topwater?? is it only worth fishing outgoing tide?

Yes it is worth fishing the outgoing tide, I like the incomings but I like any tide is a good tide to me.

Im sure a nice sized live mullet will get smacked, but as well as Artificials worked the right way will get you a hit, try em' both and remember how the action was when using the different approaches. Good luck man keep on em'! :toast:

Proof from 9/1/11. Fish will be out there, use big baits and moving water. Went out solo 9/2 and managed one fish at 26". Image

Ok, If I take my kid early evening is the crowd still decent enough that I do not have to worry about her safety? The rocks themselves present a small concern, but she is 9. What are the chances the snook are in deeper, say, back by the drawbridge? We had a whole lot of fun there during the summer, nothing of value, but I have never caught a bad fish!

I have witnessed snook caught at almost every point of that inlet. Seawall, Barge, jetty beach and inlet side. If you fish around sunset or sunrise with moving water you could have success.
Live bait, light leader (20 lb flouro IMO) or big lures bomber 6"wind cheater, rapala, even 6" swim baits.
I have always referred to that inlet as a light switch, when its on fishing is HOT, however it seems to be off more often than on.
When the mullet run picks up bluefish and ladyfish stack up in the inlet and its impossible to avoid them. Patiences and moving water are the best scenarios. Good luck and remember it only takes one to have memories that last a lifetime.

NICE, Wes! You didn't waste any time at all!!!!

I went out at sunrise on the beach 9/1, 2, and 3, but no snook. :-( Just a bunch of runners and a 3' houndfish. Unfortunately the tide was just about dead low. Probably shoulda' tried the inlet.

See ya' out there!!! :-)

Was doing a scouting report and noticed about a dozen anglers on the jetty before the sun rise. After sun rise, they are all gone. Anybody from here?
