Pretty rough out there. Tough winds, and VERY COLD. Saw some blue runners come up, could have been a few mackeral mixed in as well. Im guessing as soon as the weather is bearable to be back out there the fishing might just be pretty good.

Happy New Year All!

I went out yesterday and managed to bear the cold for 7 hours. It was well worth it from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Huge schools of jacks were moving down from the north in the current. The larger fish were pushing the 20 pound mark. Schools of bluefish were also in full migration.

The largest school of jacks I have ever seen came through Juno yesterday at about 11:00 AM. There were, easily, 5,000 fishing riding the waves. The school stretched from the outside bouy to the shoreline. It was AMAZING. Anyone who knows me knows that I am not easily impressed, but this was something really special to see in person. They were hitting Zara Spooks making the bite real exciting.

To all my friends down south, get ready, the monsters are coming this weekend.

Good Day All!

I am usually not this early with a fishing report, but today warrants it. The locals are catching pompano on the beaches with jack, bluefish and black tips mixed in for added excitement.

The pier is producing similar results and should continue to be hot for the remainder of today and tomorrow. Weather conditions, winds and swell are giving way to really favorable conditions. The mackerel have also moved in to the pier with larger fish coming early mornings and right before sunset.

Come by and see me if you are in the area. I will be fishing all day Tuesday and Wednesday on Juno Pier. I feel big fish this week. Perhaps my state record permit will suck down a crab. Wish me luck!

Yesterday after leaving the shop I visited the pier for an hour. There were a good number of cobia that came in during my hour there. I managed an 18 lbs keeper while one of the other regulars caught a fish I would estimate at 25 - 30 lbs. Several others were hooked and a few small fish landed. All in all a good hour before sunset.

Today I have heard reports of 100 lbs. black tips hitting spoons on the beach. This is a really cool way to catch sharks, when the conditions are perfect.

On a separated note, a good friend reported a tremendous sheephead bite on one of the intracoastal bridges during this past cold front. Keep this in mind the next time it gets cold and windy. It is a great alternative to fishing the pier, jetties and beaches when the conditions are ugly. The fish averaged in the 3 - 4 pound range.

I received a call last night from someone that fished there yesterday morning.
Said there were a good number of Pompano caught.
My view of a good number varies from others.
Might check it out. Might not.

Sorry for the delayed update everyone. I have been hoping for a good bit of news, but alas, this year is tough on us anglers.

There are a few pompano buzzing around the pier, but it is only a few. They are averaging 4 to 6 fish a day and that is concentrated to the morning hours. The cobia have been absent for the past week, but the next cold front pushing down should give us a bite next week.

The best thing to fish for is bluefish at night. They have been here in droves after dark. I was catching them on Thursday night on a krocodile. One positive that comes from all the bluefish are blacktips and spinners. They are in at night as well and average in the 80 - 100 pound range.

Hopefully I will have more to report very soon.

so I take it juno pier is open 24 hrs for right now? yeah silly question but I haven't been there in a few years now & was asked to find out. thanks in advance.

was there last night..had a permit hit and dropped it when i was gonna stick him..swam two blues out and bot hgot picked up on the way out by mystery fish..didnt feel like shark hits possibly cobes..and other than the first couple hours after dark it was dead..too man ycrabs to keep a bait on bottom

Good Day All!

Let me start this report with a hate message to COBIA. They are terrible fish with no regard for my feelings. All cobia over 34 inches must die.

I will explain my hate mail by telling a story of 15 cobia, the smallest over 30 pounds and the largest over 50, that came pile driving towards the pier and stopped just outside the bouys. 150 yards away from an absolutely incredible day. Damn you delicious fish!

Juno has been a bit slow with mackerel in the morning and an occassional pompano. The beach, on the other hand, has been the spot for pompano. Yesterday a few guys caught limit in 1/2 an hour off Hobe Sound. The schools are moving south still and should be here if we get two more good cold fronts.

Night fishing has been decent with lots of bluefish and sharks. If your board this weekend give it a shot. There are very few people out there when the wind blows cold and the fish are definitely biting.

There hasnt been anything but whiting and croakers for a few weeks now. Two days where the pompano came in decent, and a snook here and there, but nothing consistant.
