I really don't like fishing in the mornings but it was better than nothing so i quit loving and passed by gordon's around 9:30 am and picked a couple dozen live shrimps and headed to the ussual spot, I have been too lazy to drive to the keys hence my frecuents reports are from billy baggs, I got there around 10 am or so and was done by 12:30 ,not much happening apart from the usual reef fish,a fat porgy and a nice yellow jack, the muttons are not there YET!!

Hey guys, long time no write. I've been out of town on business. Quick question, planning on going to Bill Baggs this weekend. Does Gordens have good frozen bait?? I'm looking to get silversides, sardines. Thanks for the info.

They have fresh sardines sometimes or frozen as you like , fresh ballyhoo too, I prefer live bait as I find has been more productive for me.Good luck and looking forward to a report!!

Rare I was talking about Gordon's , I usually don't use fresh or frozen bait at BB but I have bought fresh ballys and sardines there.

Onlightline69...I have not had a chance to wet my lines since my last picture post when you were there and might not be able in another week or so, but I will let you know when.

I like the Bill Baggs challenge, one have to put in time to catch something decent, and even put in time is somewhat difficult.. I love the place and it's peacefullness of course I only go on mondays 'cause weekends is annoyingly packed.

Was out there this weekend with my family. Kids and wife when to the beach as I was fishing with my cousin @ P8. Got there at about 9:45, we has squid, live shripms and fresh sardines. Stayed there until about 2:30 before hitting the beach myself. I didn't have my camera with me but we landed a 25" pompano (nice fight), a 20" blue runner and some guy fishing next to us landed a 14 mangrove, which he gave us because he didn't want it. Strange but true. We landed the other 2 by using live small jacks that my cousin's wife caught earlier. All in all, a good day at BAGGS.

Nice catch, did you get a picture of the pompano? I wonder why I never thought of trying dork jacks for pompano bait before.

Why do you guys have to be such haters? Billy Baggs has all kinds of species like big gag grouper, and I've even heard of someone catching red snapper there. It is a big ocean, and anything is possible.

Rijkaard wrote:25" pompano at the end of june at bill baggs on a live dork jack...I don't believe it even if you show the pic with the pompano swallowing the live bait...
I was surprised myself when I started seeing it near the edge of the seawall, too! But it's like that picture of you (I guess it's you) of holding that pitcher of beer and you mouth wide open like that!!! I bet, you can swallow a large piece of tube steak whole, couldn't you?? But please, I don't want to see any pictures of that either!!

If you don't mine telling me (so I can learn), what is the difference between the two and maybe I can let you know if it was an African Pompano.
