I agree with Zeb.. when I did a retrieve where I would pump twice then reel slower, that's when the big macks would nail it from the front and slice me off.

8) It is rare that I fish wire. But these past few days, I have been using a little just on the Xraps. I lost 2 today. When you have a pack chasing it down, the followers sometimes eat the knot when the other fish is running. I know looking at my wire that I would have lost many lures these past few days had I not had it on. I never use it on the Crocs though. That'll never happen.

Sword, i swear you definitely need a wire. This mac attack is the craziest ive seen since i started fishing. At first i tied my xrap same as yours. Slow steady retrieve but with 3-5 # hungry macks attacking your lure from all sides, its definitely a sure cut off. I lost a couple of lures today but its all good...hope you get well so you can start slaying them! :happyfisherman:

^_^ to each their own. Also the reason they hit the front is cuz theyre going for the head to kill the bait... Think of it as a lung shot on a deer, or heart shot so that when you go retrieve your target you dont end up having to fight and potentially get hurt! I stocked up on the ghost xraps though! Ill be fine! Going monday come hell or high water, I told them I have a docs appointment that I cannot miss.. Yeah the mack dock! Winds look like they will hold so it should still be some action left for me! That and Ill get to hang with Tommy for a bit which is always cool to pick his brain!

8) I could see when I look down, the fear in the Mackerels eyes, of the Xrap turning around and ferociously inhaling the 5lb Mack in 1 gulping shot!

Soon as it gets cold, grab a few hand picked shrimp and visit anglins at night... work the first half of the pier and use heavy leader cuz they will run straight for the pylons! Do it! Catch em!

Upon entering the parking lot this morning and hearing about the 30 foot squid that jumped out of the water and ate a guy off the t, I knew the day was atleast going to be entertaining....

My son's friend with his first shark.

Nice mack bite early in the am. The blues came by after a little bit and chased the macks away. Then the silver plates appeared for a quick minute. They came by a few times just not in full force. Then scattered macs.

Wind blowin good when I left. If I was still there I would soak a bait for that big squid.
I dream of a better tomorrow... where chickens can cross roads and not have their motives questioned

I fished the pier today 6:30AM - 5:00PM, managed to take home 5 macks, and caught a hand full of Blues.

Finally got to meet Tommy and a couple of the other board members. Sorry I'm not good at remembering names. Cudos to Tommy for a few pointers and to the guy who showed me how the old men fist. lol.

Ala in all it was a good day at Anglin's!

Tight Lines :reeling:

Still.. the squid run at Juno has even bigger squid and in greater quantity ... sorry... hahahaha

oh.. and the funniest thing that happened when I went to the pier the other day was a bunch of tourist coming up behind all of us when the mack bite just started and the look on their face when I told them we would be flipping fish over.. they didn't believe us until a few macks started coming over... they looked horrified.. lol!!

The sea robins and puffers were around in decent numbers.
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

Anyone get their limit of Ribbon Fish today? Good to see many of you again today. I would have to say the bite was decent for a while as I witnessed nice macks being caught on gold gotchas with steel leader with snaps & swivels and 4 split shots added.....no keeper pomps before I left at 10:30.

Saw no keeper pomps all day.... A poop load of ribbon fish though...
Freeze those ribbon fish up...the SKA guys will pay $20-30 each for them.

Are the pomps hitting lures or are sand fleas being used? Anyone catching fleas lately?
