I was at the Lake Worth pier from 6-9. The water is calm and clear. boaters where going at it on the thick bait stock. Best catch was from this kid from out of town with his first cast. BAM! a 5 foot nurse shark. He wanted to take it to the beach but finally agreed just take pictures of it in the water. I brought live shrimp and had a sabiki for whatever bait is around and tossed some yozuri's. I was catching blue runner with live bait and called it a day.

Fished yesterday 7/6 with vinny and josh, weather was really nice but fishing wasn't very good, a few Bonnies in the morning and the snook kept us busy throughout the day. Ran into a couple a**holes at the pier out on the end. I guess when u put ur rod on the rail next to someone they feel that that can have 3 feet on both sides of the corner, the guy was a joke. This is the same guy that wanted to gaff a sea turtle that he hooked but instead of gaffing it he decided to cut the braid at the spool with the stinger still in the turtles mouth. Anyway that's pretty much it, until next time

Went on the pier yesterday, plenty of runners and some bait mostly little jacks a couple pilchards and some deens. One of my buddies hooked into a good snook on the only big bait i caught the whole morning, and some one caught some bonita off the end.

Dork jacks, pilchards, and gogs. Micro size pilchards in the surf.

I'm not much of a writer but heres my report. I went to the pier Friday-Sunday to try and put my little brother on his first Snook. Stayed from 6:30 until the end of the incoming tide. Bonitos on the end and plenty of blue runners around. Bait selection was pretty much was pilchards, dork jacks, and few gogs in the mix.

Friday morning my brother was blind casting the x rap on the south side of pier. They seem to be more active on that side all weekend. After a while a slob snook chases the x rap and crushes it! I swear that never gets old. Couple head shakes and it started to head down/under the pier. And well you know what happens next. 4000 spinner on a 7' 8-17lb outfit wasn't going to stop it. Although I've gotten lucky before.

Saturday the snook bite was tough! Old man jimmy at the first hut managed to get a few. Again bonitas and plenty of blue runners were being caught.

Sunday morning pilchards came in thick and fast around 6:30. Dork jacks stayed around the pier while the pilchards pushed off to the south. We didn't see that many active snook between the two huts so I decided to go down to the surf. Around 9 the snook started to feed. I found a pod of sardines a little ways off the pier were there were people surfing. My brother pitches the dine out and within minutes a small snook takes it and hes on! Ran as fast as I could to get the net and I come back and hes surrounded by people. I get the net down and hes finally got his first snook. I wanted him to catch a bigger one but its better than nothing. Shortly, after I saw people running down the pier. I look back and the rain was pouring. Stood out there getting drenched by myself but the bite had turned off.

Question for you guys fishing for snook with artis. I had a lot of short strikes on the xrap this weekend. When you see a snook chasing the x rap. What do you do? Pause twitch? Reel and twitch? Reel faster?

if you pause he will lose interest best thing to do is stay same speed when he is chasing it because honestly if he really wants it he will get it

Many people will pause an xrap from a slight pause to several seconds between twitches, such as myself, I've caught countless numbers of snook that way, same technique with bucktails and spoons. I fish this way in the ICW and the surf, and for fast current such as the inlet a slow inching the lure retrieve yields results.

BTW, this time of year never over look the incoming tide, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Is there any bait down past the 1st hut? I know there's bait in the surf but last weekend there wasn't any bait past the 1st hut. I let my brother reel this one in saturday morning.

I took the wife and kids to the pier Sunday morning. As usual, leaving the house at 6:30am is like moving to another state. Spent all morning rigging lines and baitting hooks (the joys of taking the kids fishing) But still, a great time was had all and i should quit my B_tching.

Fishing report: fished from 7 to 11 am. Big bonitas and snook being reeled in, the water was thick with pilchards, we caught 2 blue runners at 2-3 pounds each (sorry no pic's right now, will update soon)

Got to meet Linh and his little brother, great guys, nice to meet them both. :happyfisherman:

PalmBeachPost.com is reporting that the Lake Worth Pier is closed until further notice. Has anyone been out there? I hope there is no damage.

Drove by the Boynton inlet early Sunday morning and the gates were closed, first time I have seen that. The jetties have been taped off before but the park was open.

Looks like they closed the pier down as a precautionary measure. They'll probably re-open soon.

from the Palm Beach Post:
The Lake Worth Pier is closed today and until further notice in anticipation of significant wave heights that Tropical Storm Isaac might bring as it advances, the city’s Public Services Department announced Friday. The Lake Worth Beach and Benny’s on the Beach will remain open, the department reported in its advisory.

I was on the pier Memorial Day from 11am to 1pm. Alot of nice sized pompano were caught around us. Sadly we did not get a one. The waves were relatively calm. You could see the pompano running around us. They were caught on shrimp.

I was there memorial er-huh Labor Day too :D
I invited some friends who don't get out much, you know do the right thing and introduce new people to the sport and all. They had a blast and want to go again. Rigging lines and baiting hooks for 2 adults and 6 kids! How's that for my good deed for the day? :salut:

Fished from 7am till 2pm. I was told the fish were hitting at 6am and then it died till about 11. From 11 to 2 we were on fire. We caught two 13" pompano, over 20 blue runners and a raymora. There was a pod of dolphins hanging around spooking the bait and putting on a show.

Zuppa di mare anyone? :chef:
