Re: Sebastian Inlet "Fishing Reports" 2013
Spanish Mac were active on the South Jetty. I received 4 from the nice guy who caught them on small crappy jig. Lot of people tried to catch flounder with minow including myself. I saw several (4-5) caught including a 14" by me with a lure.

Re: Sebastian Inlet "Fishing Reports" 2013
I was on the north side sunday night, feb 17. There were a bunch of big snook , most oversized and a group of guys were there in a well rehearsed drill, keeping everything. I called FWC and they said it was an ongoing problem on the north side. The fish were stacked up where the warm ocean water and cold outgoing water met. I think every snook that was in the back country was concentrated there. Those idiots even had a guy whose sole job was to tangle me on every cast, I guess catching and releasing snook is blasphemy to them. Normally there would've been a confrontation , but being outnumbered with a bum elbow negated that. I did "accidentally" step on their rods twice on the way out, and the cracking sound could be heard over the pounding surf. I would strongly recommend reporting these , and other crooks when you see them. And yes they are crooks, stealing from you and me. We spend lots of money and time to persue gamefish and food fish and these blokes are making us spend more of both.

Sorry to hear that man. I run into a lots of problem at sebastian inlet every time I am out there. From people cuting my line when half of my line is still in the water, to other random shiets.
So far I have not even gotten a keeper snook at Sebastian.... all oversize ... like barely over 32" and under as well >.<

Pff bet your ass id be cutting their lines! I would just record what they were doing with my cell phone and then cut em off, what are they gonna do? fight you? then you can press charges and show everyone the wonderful crimes they were committing before they assaulted you and get slapped with more charges.. Thankfully enough most people who break the law all the time arent too smart..

its nothing new out there this crap has been going on for years , the best thing to do is when you seen the fwc officer out there ask them for there card and get there cell phone number , they will respond faster and the screw balls will get caught , i was told that calling the hot line is slow as it goes to tallahassle frist and then is dispatched , calling the officer directly has been a lot faster for me any ways calling the hot line 1 to 3 hours , calling the officer 20 to 30 mins depending where there at in the county

I used to call a fwc officer in the keys using the cell # he gave me and that did work well. He got a few litterbugs that way and a few undersized fish. unfortunately I didn't have any numbers for Sebastian area. I was just shocked at how blatant these aholes were and had I been in better health things would've been different.

most know that there are only a few in the area to enforce it , and or just dont care , but look for the fwc officers that come out there and get there card and a cell number and you will get a faster response , some of them want you to stay there until they get there so you can point them out ,

if anyone is going to call an officer to make a report... please just make sure you aren't seen in public. you know there are ppl out there that will do everything they can to harm you if they know you are the caller. dont be a victim and live today. but anyway, FWC cant always be there to give out the tickets. you need to have a strong crowd of ppl who are against poaching activity and will give hell over a person or group of people that break the law. ive seen it before and it worked.

Blue was hitting everything for about 1hr in the morning and completely stop. I almost got my limit. People probably saw me dragging those fish out and they say that. After that one hour, it basically completely stop I believe.fixed80 wrote:i heard the blues were biting real good as well as the jacks.

Re: Sebastian Inlet "Fishing Reports" 2013
Well i didnt end up going in the morning, but i went last night, needless to say one of the most interesting nights in a very long time! haha, But i did manage to land a nice 33" Snook off the south side of the jetty. The water level is VERY HIGH! and the waves are huge! Made things very difficult. But i was the only one on the south side that even caught a fish, though i cant speak for the pier. No sharks were biting either.

Re: Sebastian Inlet "Fishing Reports" 2013
fished the outgoing this afternoon and boy was it cold out there. actually i sharked the north side with no luck on my big chunk of mullet(maybe thats why). one person caught a red up there and another one was caught on the south catwalk. mackerel were in the south side surf but didn't hit like you want them too. only one guy got a smalley about 12". they were all that small i think.

Re: Sebastian Inlet "Fishing Reports" 2013
two words "it sucked". fished the south side and didn't catch any blues or any sharks. no one was really catching much. just saw a guy with two small flounder and a small sheepshead.

Made the trip up there two days ago. First time in the area it's really a pretty nice spot.
I didn't see a lot caught during the day. Most people fishing live shrimp. A few sheepshead, a black drum, and a few jacks was about it.
Nice weather though and an awesome day to be out.

Re: Sebastian Inlet "Fishing Reports" 2013

alot of little fish out there in the surf. after i switched to a smaller hook, i started getting them. got this black drum, a couple whiting, and a bunch of little jacks on shrimp. bait fish were very hard to find. also paddled out one of those jacks and got a blacktip. between 4 and 5 feet. no pics though and heres why.....
it was a female and she swallowed the hook. when i got her to shore, it looked like her guts were pulled up into her mouth from fighting so hard. i cut the line and tried reviving her in the water, but didnt seem to be changing anything. so i brought her to shore and figured ill just harvest this one. then i noticed her belly moving. i felt it and sure enough i could feel some pups in there. so i brought her back to the water to try again, but she wasn't bouncing back.
now im hesitant to post the rest of my report but im doing so in hopes of some advice to either avoid this situation again or handle it better next time (and real advice too.....don't just tell me to go home and kill myself
so mom wasn't moving or breathing but i could still feel the pups kicking. they felt at least 2 ft, so i cut her open and pulled them out. they looked fully developed so i put them in the water and off they swam. do you think they're gona make it? as for mom...i took what i could n tried to waste as little as possible.
not happy about the ending, but like i said, i dont want to repeat this, so any constructive words of wisdom would be appreciated....

Re: Sebastian Inlet "Fishing Reports" 2013
Don't feel bad, you did the best you could, a lot of people wouldn't have gone that far. Sharks have their babies and then leave them as soon as they are born, so if they were alive when you let them go, they have a good chance at survival. And, blacktips are very prolific, so if you are going to keep a shark for the grill, that is the one to do.
