Try a chug bug or a Pop-R

Good going and I agree about the bedding fish, leave them be... that one with the hump was certainly in spawn mode when no the Knot goes away.

My favorite lure, before they started making the x-rap was the balsa Husky Jerk and also the Shad Rap, had several destroyed by canal Snook and Peacock bass... in the past few years they stopped making the balsa lures and make most everything from plastic.

I catch a crapload of peacocks on the fly rod! The most amazing weapon against them, besides that, I had the same problem with not getting a far cast using a husky jerk till I tied one on a baitcaster, the difference is night and day, on a baitcaster you can cast it a mile! When I'm not fly fishing for them I use a bright orange x-rap, much more durable lure, the x-rap tied on my baitcaster now has landed me hundreds of peacoks including 4 and 5lb monsters, several snook, lots of cichlids and even had a tarpon go after it, its scratched up but still working great and still catching fish!!
There's no such thing as too much bait!!
