What's up guys I went out today with my boss on the peirs, he told me he hasn't been fishing so I took him out, we used squad to catch bait, sand perch, after 3 hours on low tide we caught 2 lesser jacks 20' each, not bad for a hot day

Whatsup everybody? I got a question.. Is there any way to fish Bill Baggs around 6am before sunup? Or after sunset? I'm planning on taking my grandpa and he can't get much sun, but the park hours sat 8am to 8pm..

thanks in advance

I think you are "Out of Luck" on getting into the park before its official opening time. This park is not some local park run by Miami Dade County, but a state park that strictly adheres to their rules

Caught my first ever legal mutton snapper from shore at Baggs yesterday. He was 22.5" long! I caught a few other fish too but only kept the mutton snapper and a 12" mangrove snapper. Overall it was a great fishing day for me!

Tears in my eyes......The style of fishing you do, I would strongly suggest you either buy a bait runner or conventional. You waste too much time f'ing around the drag setting and you in the future will lose big fishing because of this. Try a simple 3500 bait runner or the 4500.

Fished baggs yesterday for a couple hours off of dock 2 unfortunately I couldn't fish my spots cause they were all taken so had to make the long walk to dock 2, ended the day with 1 legal mutton right at 18in, a couple more muttons around 16in, and a couple blue runners

Brought home 3 mangroves and a mutton from pier 1 today. All on ballyhoo chunks. Had brief hook ups with a monster ray and small nurse shark on my 8lb rod. Nice day, not too crowded.

Do people still read this? If you’re reading, I got a 26” mutton off pier 4 a couple hours ago as the tide was coming back in. I bought a new rod and baitrunner specifically for muttons and today was the first day I used to. Bait was about a third of a ballyhoo with a 2/0 circle hook. I’m thrilled. It didn’t fit it my backpack cooler.

Nice one man, I would be using the 5/0 or 6/0 hook for muttons. Got a 21 inch mutton last weekend on a 3/0 hook but I was at mangrove fishing.

Now that I’m looking at it, it’s a 1/0 light wire circle hook! 15lb mono and 30lb floro. I guess my knots were well tied. I just ran out of bigger circle hooks. How the heck do I post a picture from my phone?

I don’t think you can do it from a mobile device. On the computer you had to send your picture to an app like photo bucket for sizing. However from what I hear rare will post a pic for you for one for fillet

Nice day again today. Incoming tide in the morning, I fished the pier closest to the harbor. 2 11” and 1 12” mangroves will be cooked tonight. Released a 16” Jack and a little nurse shark, plus a dozen other little fish. No fresh ballyhoo at C&C this morning around 745. Used frozen, live shrimp, and a couple small grunts I cut up. I expect to be back next Saturday too. But probably in the afternoon since the tide won’t be incoming until 1:30pm.

Man, I live west of the turnpike and work at the airport. Driving to CC on a Friday after work is gonna be a pain. But I know that I’m not going to get fresh ones closer to home.

That drive down from MIA after 3-4 is bumper to bumper and let us not forget US1. Then to drive back north & then west....Yep, I don't blame ya! Im not sure who is in the bait shop now but get to know them very well. Get their number if you can so they can put a dozen or 2 away for you. That way Sat you are set... just make sure to pick them up. You dont then there wont be a next time.

Tough day today. Only 1 11” keeper mangrove that I got with a yo-yo. Had fresh ballyhoo chunks on 2 rods that were just nibbled away. Tides just were not right.
