Does anyone ever fly fish with an eight wt rod in saltwater or freshwater. What is the difference in a 9ft verse a 10ft please, other than distance.

Last post

The longer the rod, the harder it is to land a fish solo, just a heads up, you end up high sticking it too much and this can lead to a stress break!

After going over the steep bridge, take your first street on the left. There is a small fishing pier & a large flats area. Might work for ya. Also, Google Earth the area to find skinnies.

9 wt would probably be better at both, and yes, in general, a floating line for inshore/flats and a sinking line for offshore use but a 9 wt is not gonna handle very large of an offshore fish, not...

Last post

9wt is fine but just like other conventionl tackle you will need specific gear for certain target fish. Sailfish or bigger game you going to need a 10wt or bigger. Also, it will help you punch through...

Anyone know the measurements for a fly leader with 20lb tippet? I prefer to tie my own leaders using leader material to save money, plus you get a slightly better cat out of it and it has less memory.

Last post

Longer tippet for flat calm days. Also depends on your size fly too. On windy days I like to keep my tippet shorter which makes it a bit stiffer. This will you from having wind knots and able to help...
