OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT RULES
The 2007 Shorebound Shark Tourney begins
July 1, 2007 and will continue thru August 31, 2007.

1-TEAMS: There will be a minimum of 3 members and a maximum of 4 members per team. At least one member of each team must be 18 years of age or older. If you are under 18 and wish to participate in this tourney you will need for a parent or guardian to sign the entry form/waiver. This form/waiver must be notarized in order to ensure validity of parent/guardian signature. The Team captain must be over the age of 18 AND shall be responsible for submitting the team’s name, date of birth of each angler in the team, team application, and notarized parental release if applicable along with all tourney entry fees before the cutoff date of June 15, 2007. Any team submissions received after June 15, 2007 may not be granted permission to fish the tourney. The team captain will be allowed to change the members of his or her team up until the start of the tourney but absolutely NO changes will be allowed once the tourney has begun.

2- ENTRY FEE: All anglers must submit an entry fee of $25.00. This entry fee will allow the angler to compete for the prize payouts and receive a tourney t-shirt. A percentage of the proceeds will go to a selected charity. Any remainder will be placed into this tourney’s fund or towards future Tourneys.

3- THIS IS STRICLY A CATCH AND RELEASE TOURNEY: All due care and safety must be exercised when handling any shark. Sharks may be brought onshore for the purpose of photography but good judgment must be used when ensuring their safety and that of those in the surrounding area. Any indication that a shark was intentionally injured or mistreated will guarantee immediate expulsion from this tourney. Keep the sharks as damage free as possible. In the event of a dead shark washing up on shore we will take all measures possible to determine if it was caught by tourney participants, points will be deducted and the team involved may be penalized as agreed by the appointed tourney board.

4- RANGE AND METHOD OF FISHING: All fish are to be caught in Florida waters from land or structure connected to shore such as a Bridge, Jetty, Pier, Dock, Rock, Beach, etc. As long as it is within a county of the State of Florida (Island’s shores included), you may be dropped off at the site by any motorized transportation. A kayak or other non-motorized method may be used to deploy bait. In no way can you use or get help from someone using a motorized craft. All fish must be caught using Rod and Reel.

5-TO QUALIFY FOR POINTS: All sharks must be CLEARLY photographed to count for points. NO PHOTO, NO POINTS! All photos of sharks will have the secret item which will be identified at the start of the tournament. For bridge or pier caught sharks; a carabiner clip is to be used for clipping a secret item to the line, said secret item must appear in the entry submission photo. The tourney board will provide you with the secret item to go on the clips. All entries must be submitted as an email with an attachment to: entrysubmission@shoreboundsharktourney.com
Photo record can not be more than 3 days old from time of catch, only digital photos will be allowed. The digital photo must be the original, DO NOT ALTER THE PHOTOS in any way. The camera must be at least 5 Mega Pixels. All sharks must have a minimum of 5 feet. This tourney is designed to showcase these magnificent sharks and the anglers. While beaching a shark we ask that you do not remove it from the water leave at least half its body in the water so it can support its own weight. Any shark that can not be identified because of low quality photos (i.e. blurry, dark, pixel size too small…etc) will not qualify for points. Once you submit a picture, that must be your only picture and please do not try to re-enter it. Ensure that you submit a photo in which the shark is CLEARLY visible. Any team submitting a different picture of the same shark to increase points will be penalized and HALF of their team points will be removed for the first occurrence. Should the same team attempt the same, that team shall be disqualified from the tourney and will forfeit any and all tourney entry fees and awards won. In the even that you are catching similar size sharks please make an effort to video the catches. Your team members can fish with others but only they are allowed on the rod. While landing a shark you can ask whomever in your team you want to help you, but no one else other than the team members submitting the catch are allowed to touch the rod or fish.
In order for us to award points for the video, you must submit at least 10 minutes of video or more. This would be from the end of the fight to the release of the shark . This means that the shark must be visible and close to beach or bridge (landing it), placing the secret item on shark, and releasing it right after).

6- COMPLAINTS & BEHAVIOR: All Tourney participants are expected to express themselves and act in a mature manner. No bashing of other participant teams or members, judges, sponsors, or the board members will be allowed. In the case that you have a complaint, please submit it by IM, PM, or E-mail to the tourney board. You can express yourself in that manner. Remember the way you behave is how sponsors and the public will perceive this Tourney so please conduct yourself accordingly.

7- Polygraph: By entering the tournament all captains and anglers voluntarily consent to submit to a polygraph examination as deemed necessary by tournament officials. All decisions of the polygraph examiner will be final. Any captain or angler who refuses to take a polygraph or provides untruthful answers as determined by the examiner will be disqualified from the competition without further notice. Such a disqualification will eliminate payment or provision of any prize money, awards, and/or refund of entrance fees.
