Ponce inlet surf fishing

I'll be staying with my girlfriends family right by Ponce inlet next week, and wondering how's the surf fishing around there this time of year?
I'll hit the inlet a couple of days, but will mostly be sitting on my butt with the rods in a sand spike. What are the chances of catching a red in the surf?
Anyone with experience fishing that area.
