Redingon Pier - between Clearwater & St. Pete

Hello to all!
I am a Florida ex-pat now living up in Atlanta. Since salt water is scarce up here, I have been mostly freshwater (Largemouth, Spot, & Striper) fishing. I'm taking the family for a week at the beach near Clearwater/St. Pete July 11-18, and it turns out that we will be staying fairly close to Redington Pier. I figured I could have a couple of evenings/mornings of fishing, but have no idea what to target or how to catch it. Any suggestions as to what's biting, and how to catch it? I'm good with either live bait or artificial. In fact, I'd love to do both. I'd prefer to target fish that I can catch with my lighter spinning equipment (6-10 Lb test). I'm not looking for trophy fish, just for some tight lines! Thanks in advance for any help.
