Intro to fishing Dry Tortugas

Post by Rare »

Few members wanted some basic information on fishing the Dry Tortugas for our Yankee Capt Trip if we get the green light. So, our charter capt. Cudaman (Herb) said pick a weekend that works for everyone. We will most likely head to a sports bar with the group and talk about fishing in DT over a few beers and some food. I will have a few special guess to speak about our trip sponsored by "What Goes Down Must Come Up" tks, Rare

Biggest question is DT Vs. PR?

Vertical jigging really worthy Vs. chicken rig? In general, I could see VJ is good for middle-depth water fish...not sure about bottom, you already know the depth fish are around... I am saying this because most guys caught grouper with VJ on last DT trip. I would like to know which one caught more fish?

How many rods recommended? how many for bottom and how many for free line?

How many coolers allowed?

Do we have to catch bait before the trip? What would be the best bait?

What time leaving and coming back?

What about we standardize our main line and sinker to minimize line tangle?

Remember this several years ago when you held a seminar at Markham Park? End up with a strong fishing crew ever since.
The Judge asked the prostitute, "At what point did you realize you were raped?"
The prostitute replied (wiping away tears), "When the check bounced."

Bayside or near the County line with Broward? What is that restaurant on the water by 163rd St in North Miami Beach?
