Happy New Year everyone! :toast:

It has been real quite here lately. Who is hunting wabbit? Any reports?

I'll be out in the AM Saturday hopefully with some good action to report. If not always good to hang out with good friends. :dude:

Today was slow, South current with a chum block out for hoos, gogs were in but a tough time getting them. It rained early in the morning then the sun came out and brought all of the second shifters from Michigan, Alabama and Cuba with many children and a new set of rods from wally-world. Free lined a few gogs and got ripped a few times. Bottom fishing produced a giant parrot fish a few lizards for those with the shrimp. On my friends rod a huge blue fish about 7lbs or more, couldn't get a good feel for the weight because he went under the pier and broke it off. I was out from 5 AM through 3 PM and not any real fish over the rail to speak of, maybe a few sand macs I forgot about. Heading out for the morning sunrise to see if I can jack anything up. Forgot to say... it may be slow but being on the ocean is as good as it gets and we tried all of our tricks to land anything and came up short- that's fishing

Why are all the T's in the north part of the county closed? Deerfield, Pompano, and Anglins are all closed!

fished from 6am-10:30 am yesterday and was hoping to land my first pompano. about 10 minutes after daybreak I got a hit on my sand flea rig. Felt like a decent fish, cranked about 8 times and it came unglued. No other hits on the sandfleas the rest of the time I was there. Caught sand perch, filefish, pork fish, pin fish, a few small jacks and a spot tail pinfish that was big enough for a sandwich, it was my lunch along with some tomato and toast. Also saw the kids killing the gogs on bugs and at one point saw about a 60lb tarpon roaming around, but he wanted nothing to do with the porkfish I dangled in front of him on my bait rod. Nothing really going on....besides the fish caught on my bait rod, I saw others land a trumpet fish and what looked like a sea robin. No real fish to speak of.

I was using the kale hooks on the pomp rig. Are those like circles, you just reel to set the hook, or is it better to set the hook?

I wasn't using him for bait so much as just taking an extra few seconds reeling him in since I spotted the tarpon under him....just wanted to see if there was interest. I'm aware of their status...thanks.

Hey folks

Looking to purchase some Gotcha Lures as they seem to be money when it comes to catching macs. Can anybody recommend the best ones (i.e size, weight, color). Would appreciate any info.

Thanks.

Macks during the day and the occasional blue fish at night. What else is new. Fished last night caught 3 boo fish, AND you could have even dropped a piece of squid down and get barely any bites. just another anglins pier  first down
