Yup, by 6:30am they broke up into various smaller pods... found them at 30th ST before sunrise, then more down further South on the strip... got a few 16" jacks and a couple small ladies. Saw 4' tarpon rolling but couldn't get them to hit. Coming back North very thin... nothing on them late morning.

THANKS for the heads-up, Tommy!

Around 7 PM, my wife called and told me about a big school of fish passing by fort lauderdale beach. She was on 10th floor hotel with her cousin. I knew it was mullets. I was at beach 7:15 ~ 7:45. I brought one 12' rod with spoon.
Pod was about half size of football field. Some big fishes were constantly splashed them. I ended up catching one jack.(I realized live mullet is better than spoon). A guy next to me went into water...center of pod...being surrounded by mullet and cast out... less than a min, he hooked a shark on his live mullet... He was fighting and a lot people came to him....he fought about 15 - 20 min...I didn't see the end... But my wife told he cut the line because he didn't want people get hurt...Shark must be a good size.
Anyway, it was my first time that I was right time and right place of chasing "illusive" pot of mullets on beach. It was real fun. I got sore muscle after 30min non-stop casting and reeling...was good exercise while being in water

Went out by Hillsboro pier around 6 pm.. No mullet around but maybe they were few football fields north of the pier where I saw large splashes.

Just fyi if u plan to go to the pier, bunch of cigar minnows around especially at the end of the pier. Saw mix of runners, needle fish, snappers. Two huge snooks taunting everyone.

If the ICW has em already you will find em here as well.

Locals ussually net them at point 1 or 2 (miami)

Note location 1 you net from Biscayne Blvd up on the road but be prepared to get lost when the cops come

I have seen them bubbling up like rice in a pot so heavy you have to release part to bring em up.

That location is a near sure bet to get some mullet

Now I'm sure Ronnie's not going to be back over on this side of the pond for a while. When was the last time a BF member coughed up a real honey hole WITH A MAP ATTACHED? Thanks Bud. BTW found my slot snook on the you-know-what this week off the Juno Pier.

Fished South side of Boynton this morning. On the beach. Fingers were scattered, mostly by the rocks and nothing was chasing them that I could see. Caught two snook near the pipe. Don't know how it was on the jetties though or the North side. I did see a guy catch some off of the South Jetty on my way out.

Dania pier today. tiny pods of finger mullet 2 or three times in the early am moving past near the beach.

Hoglegs around 2:30 to 3:00 pm in a big pod further out hit the north of the pier about halfway out and went out and around the tee. Some fish busting the hoglegs. Saw at least one 100 lb tarpon.

There was nothing really going on when I stopped by to fish for a bit around 8am. Small scatter pods of finger mullet in the surf. I saw one small snook caught from the surf. Pretty quiet day.

finger mullet has been streaming into Fort Lauderdale along the Beach all night long. Ladyfish and a few snook pops. It's just a simple stream 10 foot wide

Fingers and hog leg pods on SoBe. All the predatory species on em. I fished a couple blocks south and crushed em on the Spidey rod. 3 slots, a dink, shook off an overslot, 3 for 4 on jacks. No one else caught a snook, helped my boy land a 56" tipper on mono. Spidey crushed the competition!!!!

Pods moving in different directions, some north and some south. Catch em up!

Nice GK. When I was living in Clearwater we called those big breeding size ones "horses". Occasionally we could net some up to 8 lbs even. We called them hoglegs too but also if they were a bit smaller. I don't see as many of these big ones over here. The finger mullet were usually the species called silver mullet, while the horses and hoglegs were striped mullet. Locals went for the striped for tablefare and the silver were for bait.

Where's one find the big ones this side? Canals?
