Then on may 19th i went to the Merrimac river on the coast, fished incoming tide and had a good 3 hours of catching mystery cats and striped bass. :reeling:

Nice catch. How does that Zebco reel hold up when you hook up to a nice Striper?
The Judge asked the prostitute, "At what point did you realize you were raped?"
The prostitute replied (wiping away tears), "When the check bounced."

It's a Prostaff reel, 120 yards of 20 lb test, i have not gotten spooled yet, i may have to throw it away someday soon, getting a little salty after all these years, i have a nice triton baitcaster that holds 300 yards and a spinning reel that holds 150 yards so i am good to go.

I would say snook are smarter and harder to get, snook freak out when hooked and get you in cover, try to break your line, stripers are just aggressive and mean and pull hard, i like catching all species, its all fun

I moved down here two years ago and find Snook every bit the fish a Striper is when on equal terms. Snook are often found near mangrovs and other leafy snags; Stripers - seldom so. However, taken in the surf as I fish them off Melbourne Beach, Snook and Stripers are near equal. If anything; I'd say the Snooks strike and first run are more agressive but the bass will bulldog a bit longer. I'll take either one whenever I can find them.
