April 5th 2010 - Fishing the Flood

Post by SD2 »

Went carping for the 1st time this year with Jeff and Vinny and we got 13 carp between the 3 of us(me6, Vinny5 and Jeff2). I landed 6 carp out of 7 runs, the one I lost straightened my hook :'(. Was probably a 20 lol. The other 6 weighed 8, 12, 13, 13.5, 15 and 17.5 for a total of 79 lbs.
All fish caught on method feeder and hair rig with 2 fake pieces of maize and one piece of scopex corn(buttery flavor). My 6 carp day beats my previous high of 5 carp achieved several times.
Here are pics of my 3 biggest, 13.5, 15 and 17.5.

Thanks for sharing great catches as is your norm.
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

Nice bullheads, they are some of the largest I have seen. Great Carp, back in Minnesota around this time of year in Fox Lake, they go crazy during the mating and easy to catch. They look like the European Carp, bleed them and put them on ice then cold smoke them, great with a dark German beer! :chef: :toast:
