Zero Tolerance Policy

Post by BoatlessFisherman »

The Boatless Fishing Forums maintains a ZERO tolerance policy toward messages, and/or users, deemed inappropriate by OUR community standards.

"Inappropriate" includes:

Photos of dead Sharks will not be tolerated this site is about the catch and release of Sharks 03/17/10
Porn.
Spam.
Vulgarity.
Ethnic Slurs.
Disrespect that would degrade your character
Implied or perceived threats.
Offensive message content.
Encourage to, or engaging in illegal activities.
Hijacking, Side stepping a thread or taking the original topic off on some tangent.

Anything else that is not considered socially acceptable by our community.

Any forum member, found guilty of any Fish & Game laws after Nov 1, 2006, (ie: bag limit violations, under limit-over limit, out of season, etc), is not welcome on this site, and will be permantly banned. If spotted flagrantly violating those laws by a moderator or administrator, the account may also be banned. We strongly support and encourage full compliance with fishery rules.
"This rule will be applied when: there is no doubt the person or persons did such Knowing it was WRONG" Reason for this is people make honest mistakes--Ok stupid mistakes but they are done with no wrongful intent. which means they really made a mistake and they will make it right from then on.

And more, to be amended as Boatless Fishing Forums, or it's moderators, find necessary.

Any violations of this policy may result in administrative sanctions at the sole discretion of the system administrator or his designee.

It's gotta be that way, otherwise the site just gets overrun with negativity/arguments/flame wars.

Not only that, I could easily see some lawyer claiming that boatless had some responsibility/liability were someone to actually get hurt after an altercation that was allowed to continue on here.

When a forum is small it seems like you have to put up with some crap to get things going. Once its strong you can afford to tighten the reigns and make sure it stays quality.

Yes i agree that this site has come to a point now that we will have to tighten up.

Threats are the number one issue and I do see minor things that I precieve as threats.

So those that ever get a PM with a threat or you see something in a thread please pm me so I can deal with it.

Just everyone remember I posted these posts around and they are not a joke. another reason is
because I don't even think people were aware of these rules they have been posted since 2006 but were located in the top area and many do not check it.

I would like to say thank you for being so concerned about these things. You never know these days how people react or what they could do. It really makes me feel better that you (being an owner) interacts with us and make us feel so welcome. I'm sure you created this website with the intentions that it would be for learning and chatting about a hobby we all love and nothing negative. My name is Vanessa but you can call me Vane and I just joined this forum and already i've felt nothing but good vibes and in about a week we have our own PINK lounge!!! I know that all of us girls appreciate it and it's all thanks to you Tommy. :)

If I ever do feel threatned be sure that I will pm you! Once again thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. Some humor for ya.....ENJOY!

Everyone refrain from using any words that are distasteful, I have seen words like Qu-er, F-gs, fa--got and so on, some of my very good friends are I am so happy and take offense to those words and I do to so please try not to use.

Thank you for understanding that this site is for all and we need to be respectful of all.

Thanks Again

I wouldnt be doing my job if I didnt ask. Hasnt the LGBT community has accept the word Q@#er? "LGBT people re-claiming the term as a means of self-empowerment." - Wikipedia.

Also, the word f@# also means cigarette. For example, James380 loves smoking his "f@#" after fishing with the guys. If the word is use proper and not use in a offensive or derogatory way couldn't that be allow?

Yes bolo if you are from the UK it would be a Norm to use that word for a smoke, But here in the states it really is not used like that, it has one meaning and that is to degrade a human being for their sexual preference.

Good stance, keep the posting to fishing and fishing related items. BTW did you know that snook also refers to a Canadian comedian?

Firstly please let me congratulate you on this really great forum.

In a world where the most expensive sport is deep sea fishing, we all need to be reminded that we can still enjoy our fishing without the use of a boat.

I am based in the UK and have been using this forum for a about a month. In that short time I have made a few contributions to this site but am uncertain if anyone has actually seen the posts as there has been no comment / feedback.

The reason for writing this post is in the belief that you may be interested in the reaction of newbie to the forum itself and to make a couple of suggestions that might make this an even better place to meet.

One thing that strikes the new member is the Big Brother layout on pretty much each section that one visits. For example, each time I logon I am beaten over the head with the fact that I am going to be deleted if I don't post something and, when I do, God forbid that I should use offensive language which will result in the same fate. Also I am wished a Happy New Year while my notice is being directed towards new BF products.

Of course, none of these notices are objectionable at all - they just seem to be in the wrong place. For example, the Zero Tolerance Policy (very commendable by the way) should be on the Home page as part of the rules that govern membership of this delightful forum. The same could be said to be true for the ZERO Posts entry (also very commendable).

Then there are the "stickies" (I think that's what they're called). Pretty much all of them are really great. But it seems like overkill whenever one logs on to see any new postings on here (as per the ZERO Posts encouragement) one has to scroll waaaay down to anything that may be current.

Why not create a "Hall of Fame" where these really great articles are stored and where they can be accessed as if they were a "reference library" - leaving free a page with current postings and new stuff right at the top?

New postings kinda get lost both physically and psychologically at the bottom of the list of (repeated) postings.

And thank you! Happy New Year to all you great guys and gals who make this such an interesting forum (once I can drill down and reach your postings!)

And Happy New Year to all who enter here.

Also, Happy New Year to.....

I think that covers the Happy New Year issue :biglaugh:

Anyway, that's my contribution to: Everyone can help-- the Site

Now, if you see a really white guy, and his partner, wandering around the Keys Bridges (from Feb 24th onwards) as if he has lost a dollar and found ten cents and who keeps looking over the edge and wandering what to do with his gear that he has brought with him all the way from the UK then please take pity on him and show him the ropes - he will be eternally grateful!
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, tyres shredding rubber, and loudly proclaiming, "Wow - What a ride!"

It`s all subjective. You got off scott free when ya called me a douche bag. That`s sexist; how the frick do you know I am not a woman who finds such public exposure extremely distasteful?
