Whats up Justin, Text me when your coming up. Giant ceros around and Monster jacks and I heard that there was about 15 tarpon hook ups today. Still not seeing that many Muttons but the grovers are here.
Bait has been thick as you know from what you saw last week and is still thick.
Thanks for sharing that photo with us.

Re: Marlin ...me and my best friend chris(Rip) hooked as kid
I used to fish that pier in my teens as well, Mike (R.I.P.), Oldman Dave (R.I.P) and the Chief gave me my nickname. I remember when they started stamping people with the Googan stamp and when the pier burned down. And if I am not mistaken the Marlin story came out in the Florida Sportsman as well, on one of the back pages. I may even still have that issue.PaulieBoy wrote:And as far as the term "googan" it most definately started on that pier!!!
Sorry to read about your friend Chris.

Re: Marlin ...me and my best friend chris(Rip) hooked as kid
I will look for the article, I kept a few of my old Florida Sportsman magazines from the late 80's to early 90's. Yea man, Dave would be there every sunrise free lining a huge blue runner or a mullet, some times it seemed he had them in his back pocket, and finally got his 60 or 70 pounder. I learned a lot from that old Coast Guard retired man. I'm trying to remember Walter, he does sound familiar but more from the old Haulover pier.
Take care man
This is me with my son and his first mackerel maybe 1992 or so. Without the hat I had a fro in those days.
