Called the resort today and confirmed. They are open!! The guy I spoke with said he didn't know anything about parking or pricing, but that they are open 24 hours.

I have heard they dont sell bait or tackle which is strange for a pier. Rippys Bait and Tackle is open 7 days and we have loads of frozen bait but it will be a few months before we get the live bait tanks in. We will expand our open hours once we get the live bait in.

I called the Newport resort. I was told they don't have a phone line at the pier yet.

Went there bright and early on Sunday morning. A guy hooked up a cuda but it got away. Caught a lot of blue runners and jacks. Nothing spectacular to talk about. The pier is nice. Only thing is you can only fish half of the pier from the middle up to the T. The pier is still not complete. Benches still need to be bolted down etc. A lot of spots for disabled fishermen/women. Right now parking is free and fishing is free as well. This should change soon. the bait shop is still not open so you will have to bring your own bait. I just enjoyed being at newport again. can't wait to go back.

When you go from I95 to to 163rd st and just keep going straight to the beach you can actually run into the ocean if you are not careful, LOL I went Sunday afternoon, no bait under the pier. A few macks swiped my sidewinder and ghost x-rap and got one blue runner i gave away for bait. pier looks good hope it can take a hurricane. I don't know why they decided to make it a full blown concrete pier. It is extremely hot with no huts! There is no water run off in the middle of the pier. It is solid concrete from side to side end to end. they were fixing the parking meters so maybe parking is not free anymore.
