SoBe mixed bag, flounder, jacks, snook, etc

Post by Poseidon10/31 »

Fished SoBe for about an hour this morning before the rain came in. Finger mullet bait, 40lb mono. Caught 2 flounder around 16-18", didn't measure em tho, and threw em back in the drink. Funny thing, the first bite went unnoticed, I realized my bait was stationary for too long, went to reel it in and got tight on the fish. lol. The second flounder chased the finger on top, that was funny to see. Had a snook that looked like it may have been a slot shake the hook as I was pulling it onto the sand. No biggie, would have released it anyways. Couple jacks in the 5 lb range and a decent size cuda. Surprised to actually land the cuda on mono. God bless circle hooks. Gave the cuda to a nice bum that's always there, he picks up trash, never see him wasted or cracked out. He gives us lures and sunglasses that wash ashore and one time sold us a GoPro with the screen back for $15 bucks. Who releases flounder but keeps a cuda... No sign of any bait, but the water and air seemed cooler than it has been, churned up surf, not too weedy. Thunderstorm sent me packing

Congrats. You seem to be killing it with regularity lately son. Combine these fish with a personal best snook all in the same week and I would be heading to the nearest casino to put a Franklin on 00. You've got Force

Not asking for an exact spot. But around what area are you finding fingers?

Thanks guys. I have seen a couple flounder down here, but small like 4-8". It was a surprise to get 2 today.

In the bay and residential canals. Have been a few on the beach, but not enough to count on.

Sounds like a good trip minus the thunderstorm. Nice flounder, good eating fish. :chef:

I live in SOBE and am pretty new to FL, moved here about a year ago.

Been walking the sand for some time now, using top water poppers and artificials... been hooking into Jacks, Snook, Cudas, and a few sharks.

I'd love to link up with other fisherman here on the beach...

I live at the Bentley Bay, 6th and West.

Let me know if any of you guys want to go fishing!

They were around 6" fingers. It was only the bigger flounder that were able to eat them. The smaller founder tried, but couldn't get em down.
