The reason I ask is because it's difficult to get any information that is useful from you without asking exact question(Just like our government). You make a rather blanket statement about some folks there at Redington, then follow it up by more mysticism. I mention that it looks like a nice place to fish, and you say that it is but it's expensive..

Facts, my friend..Post some prices for the pier, the names of those dirty liars at Redington, and some pictures of those big tarpoooons.....

Welcome to Redington Pier, the friendliest place on earth to fish.

http://www.tampabay.com/sports/outdoors ... 654998.ece

There are so many great place to fish in West Central area for very little fee or free. I don't know why anyone would pay so much to fish in such a hostile environment.

like where
Let's see pick a species and I'll name a land based spot starting from the South end(Skyway) to the North End(Tarpon Springs) in Pinellas County alone:

Better yet, I will name a location and species list:

Skyway Pier($3 per car + $2 per person): Spanish Mackerel, King fish, Tarpon, Mangrove snapper, Grouper, Pompano, Silver trout, Goliath Grouper, sharks, big snook at night.

Fort DeSoto Gulf Pier and Bay Pier(free): Spanish Mackerel, occasional King fish, big snook at night, Pompano, some snapper at the end of the Gulf Pier.

Fort DeSoto Park(free): Wading for Redfish, trout, snook, flounder. Big trout in the winter time in the deep bomb holes.

Tierra Verde Bridge, Bayway bridge(free): Excellent spot for Pompano and some Spanish Mackerel

Pass A Grille Jetty(free): Spanish Mackerel, bluefish, Pompano, snapper, snook.

Blinds Pass, Johns Pass (free): Snook, Pompano, Spanish Mackerel, snapper and grouper along the fender

Pier 60($10): Big snook and speckle trout at night, silver trout in winter time, Pompano from Spring to Fall, Spanish, some Cobia and the occasional Tarpon.

Honey Moon Island ($2 or $50 a year for 24hrs acces): Snook, trout, reds, Pompano, whiting, silver trout, nice easy wade anywhere along the shoreline.

Gandy Bridge(free): Snapper, Spanish, Mangrove snapper, snook, Pompano, Silver trout.

Tarpon Spring Power Plant(free): In the winter time, every thing that swims visit the power plant. The only place to catch Spanish on a cold January morning while you are jigging for big speckled trout. Pompano, Permit, Cobia, Snook, Trout, Spanish.

I will admit, when the King Mackerel visit our coast, the edge goes to Redington Pier, not that I have not personally seen killer days at the South Skyway piers. I have had days when I limit out on two 25lbs King Mackerel in 3 casts and witness 20-30 King Mackerels morning in 25 mph wind.

As far as Tarpon, spend your time at the Skyway Piers and you will be as successful as you are at Redington Pier.

Is Redington Pier worth the price and the poor management that it has received since the new owner bought it? Not for me. There are way too many spot to fish in WC area.
