Michigan carp 7/5

Post by Frogfish101 »

Well today was a decent day at Ford Lake....and my first day of carping in MI all year! Took two friends, one a newbie, and we fished 4 rods. Ywo rods had tutti frutti maize, and the other two had boilies (one with a single tutti frutti boilie and the other with a tutti frutti and a pineapple ice cream pop-up boilie). The morning started off really slow, with little fish movement. had about 3 hours of NO action, but finally got into the first fish at 11:30. Around this time, I switched one of the rods to scopex pips, and immediately got another fish. After that, it was somewhat steady action until we left, with more and more fish moving around as the day progressed. Finished off the day 8-10, with a bunch of other little runs and bumps. One of the fish that we lost was a good one, ripping drag and broke us off on the zebra mussel-covered dropoff. Of the 10 fish, 6 came on scopex pips and 4 on boilies (tutti frutti and Pineapple ice cream). Tutti frutti maize never got a run, which was surprising.

Overall fit was a fun day. Big fish was around 19. Newbie caught the biggest fish of his life. It's nice to be back :)

Haha its a carp thing. I originally posted the report on a carp forum, so that is why i used the bait terminology

Fish are all released. And they're one of the hardest fighting freshwater fish

Good day of hauling guys WTG

Don't be confused by all the fancy baits, carp fishing baits have gone wild, used to be just bread, corn and oats now there are thousands of flavored corns and boilies.

Monster Carp.
The Judge asked the prostitute, "At what point did you realize you were raped?"
The prostitute replied (wiping away tears), "When the check bounced."

Nice European Carps...one of my favorite freshwater fish on ultralight in Southern Minnesota. They are great smoke but you have to bleed it first from pristine water, especially in the winter taste best. :toast:

That's cool, i use the whiskey flavored corn a lot, carpquila, whiskey maize, anise and pineapple vodka, i recently started using pop up boilies, my favorite is the 10 mm pineapple. In the old days i usecd just regular sweetcorn, bread and oatmeal balls, now i am on the method mix madness kick. :dude:

I have not gotten any carp over 17.5 this year :(
