Nothing Like Catch&Release Trout!!

Post by oceanorange »

Went out Yesterday to a river up around the stone mountain area, and had some fun on catch and release season for trout. Weather was perfect, not too many anglers out. Caught these using a combination of fly fishing and spin fishing ultralight soft plastics.

Beautiful area to visit for sure!!

No explanation needed, the pictures speak for them selves! I had a wonderful time with my Brother, and he only caught one, Got allot of training to do with him.

Thanks bro, Yeah, I had to learn the tricks within 20 minutes of getting there with no one around to ask.... I just got my ultra light and used about 10 different rigs and lures before I got the nack, then it was fish on every 5-8 casts.. It was beautiful and the trout were jumping 2-3 feet in the air when they were hooked!!.
Yeah, these fish can fight for their size.

Yeah, I want to go back and sleep there!!. But I know how to get to this spot and will be there once or twice a month to get some brain rest. If you want a larger size image as a background I'll send it, I like the white water pic the best, have it as my background on the MAC.

Hey are you far from me? I'd like to meet up with you and do some trout fishing in that area if you ever need a fishin' buddy. Let me know what area you are in, and maybe we can meet up.

378 miles ocean, a bit far i might say lol ........ the trout fishing here isn't to great, it's good when they stock the streams but the best trout fishing can be found in the mountains pretty much half way between where we live.

I'd love to see you come to the ohio river when the hybrids are hitting like mad, I've heard of guys catching over 100 a day, and just loook at my pics in the "south excluding florida" section, you'll see they are nice, and the ones i caught arent' considered big really

I'd like to take you up on that offer. Get me some more info on that and maybe we can plan a little outing to get some of those puppies, I'll take my ultra light 4 lb test outfit and a little white jig. I like to fish with the lightest thing I have just because it's how I fish best. PM me and let me know what you have in mind.

Great!, Post the pictures when you have them. Yes these are "cute little trout", but I had a great time catching them, wonderful area to just relax.

Plus it's not the size, quantity or type of fish, It's the fact that we can still enjoy doing it.

OceanOrange--Nice!!! Fishing is fishing. Looks beautiful up there. Doesn't matter to me. I'd ice fish if I had to. LOL I swear I'd wet a line if it was 300 years in the future and we had Star Trek colonized a planet. That would be one of the first things I'd do. They would ask me, What ya after, I'd say, oh doesn't matter, we'll name em after we catch em.

Funny though, what you're wearing looks like the aqua fishing getup, your were wearing when I met ya at Anglins Pier. What do those North Carolina fish and fisherman think of those tropical colors? LOL :biglaugh:

thank you for sharing. i love trout fishing. i fly fishing for trout in the mountains is one of my favorite things to do. i have caught monster muskie- marlin, and a jumping trout on a fly you have tied, is still at the top of my list.
