Surfboard

Post by dipydogg »

Just acquired a 7'11" board from a friend. I am eager to learn to surf, but I was curious if anyone uses a surfboard to take out baits off the beach. Seems like Ive seen it before but not sure.

They will work but after hearing stories of the guys getting bumped carrying out baits in yaks, I wouldn't do it.

I've heard of people doing it, hell some people would literally swim their bait out.

Just so you know, Surfing accounts for almost 50% of all Shark bites in Florida. Just thought I'd mention that before you add a big Shark bait to the equation.
Nice Boat! Now get it outa my driveway!

People have swam or paddle their bait out. I don't see why can't you use your surf board to get your bait out. I say go for it. Don't listen to these people. Too many negative people on this forum to stop others from having fun. If everyone was scary of whats in the water then no one would do anything. Good luck.

If all I had was a surfboard and really wanted to sharkfish then hell yeah I'd paddle them out on a surfboard. How are you going to secure the bait and weight on the board, and not get hooked by your buddy on the beach if he accidently engages the reel. :toast:

I would advise putting your bait and weight in a 5 gallon bucket, that way you aren't leaving a blood trail on your way out, and when you get to where you want to deploy it, just dump the contents of the bucket over and paddle like hell back to shore

Use a milk crate or 5 gallon bucket.
