blank for electrical reel

To use it at normal party boat like Yankee Capt., it has to be straight butt. It looks like rod length for electric reel is 5-6ft, which is perfect but boat with no rail...but It may be too short for yank Capt...???

a 800h won't be good with much over 16ounces let alone a few pounds. If he's going to spend the money look at United composite, they make a blank just for tile fishing. Also look up what guys in the north east use for tilefish. They mostly hand crank but will still be perfect for the smaller daiwa/shimano electrics.

This is for shimano electric reel. It seems I need rod that can handle line weight up to 100+ LB.

UC blank looks very traditional American boat-fishing blanks that can not go wrong.
I also think Clastar E glass blank (not grafighter) may also be OK for electric reel.
E glass blank is strong.

It appears that Phenix Black Diamond Hybrids are blanks with a little more edge...
I heard of phenix many times but never really check the spec but I was surprised to find out they have blank made of woven carbon and kevlar... Kevlar is one of strongest composite I know...So I can appreciate how strong this blank would be...

All joking aside. Kevlar or carbon composite is no match against solid fiberglass.

Use a solid fiberglass blank rated around 80lbs or more if using electric reels.

It really depends on how you define the strength... Tensile strength is Carbon fiber is highest...Strength to weight ratio is carbon is highest...

He will fish on party boat where railing is surrounded... I think bent butt would be hard... And it is not for swordfish but tilefish

That's why I like this hybrid blank between carbon and Kevlar.
Kevlar is known for great surface resistance.

Deep sea drop rod needs to have fast reaction or extra fast to feel the bite and I don't know how gainer galas rod would work... Fiber glass is good for trolling or live bait but deep drop rod will need a good content of carbon... It is just my impression... Again this is not for sword fish but tiles or snappers

Blue, is this guy planning by on holding this, or putting it straight up in a rod holder? Still unclear on how he's planning to use it. I know they have some nuclear power supplies for these that are light but unbelievably powerful. Guy had a Diawa on a west coast (of Florida) red snapper trip I did a few years ago. Batteries cost almost as much as the reel. Not sure the rod but whole the rig weighed a ton

He has Shimano reel just got from Japan... Electric reels are common for Japan and Korea bottom fishing since water gets deep quickly and current is ripping... Some area high tide and low tide delta is more than 16 feet...two pound weight may hold the bottom...hand cranking gets too much...

We fish CHASO rods. On this episode, during the day deep dropping we were fishing Chaos 7'0" K 30-60 lb conventional rods and 8'0" graphite rods at night for grouper/snapper. Thanks for watching. - Capt Mike
